Roger And The Hamster Hamster Story
Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Roger who loved his hamster more than anything in the world.
His hamster’s name was Nugget.
Nugget was small and fluffy, with soft golden fur and bright little eyes that always seemed to sparkle. Every morning, Roger would say good morning to Nugget before school. Every afternoon, he would tell Nugget about his day. Sometimes Nugget would run on his wheel so fast that Roger laughed until his tummy hurt.
Roger and Nugget were best friends.
But Nugget was very old.
One morning, Roger noticed that Nugget was sleeping longer than usual. He gently opened the cage and whispered, “Good morning, Nugget.”
Nugget didn’t wake up.
Roger’s heart felt heavy. His parents came into his room and sat beside him.
His mother wrapped her arms around him while his father spoke softly.
“Roger,” he said, “Nugget was very old. He lived a long and happy life, and he knew how much you loved him.”
Tears rolled down Roger’s cheeks.
“Where did he go?” Roger asked.
His mother smiled gently.
“We believe Nugget has gone to Hamster Heaven.”
Roger sniffled. “What’s Hamster Heaven?”
His father smiled.
“It’s a wonderful place where hamsters can run through endless tunnels, nibble their favorite treats, and play all day long. There are giant sunflower seeds, mountains of fluffy bedding, and wheels that never stop spinning.”
Roger tried to imagine it.
“Do you think Nugget is happy there?” he asked.
“I know he is,” said his mother.
Even so, Roger felt sad.
For many days, he missed seeing Nugget in his cage. He missed hearing the tiny squeak of his wheel at night. He missed telling his best friend about school.
One evening, Roger climbed into bed and hugged the little picture of Nugget that sat on his nightstand.
“I miss you,” he whispered.
Soon, he drifted off to sleep.
That night, Roger had the most wonderful dream.
He found himself standing beneath a bright blue sky filled with fluffy clouds shaped like hamster balls.
Ahead of him was a sparkling golden gate.
Above the gate was a sign that read:
WELCOME TO HAMSTER HEAVEN!
Roger stepped through the gate and gasped.
Everywhere he looked, happy hamsters were running, playing, and exploring. Some were sliding down giant sunflower-seed slides. Others were bouncing on soft piles of bedding that looked like fluffy clouds.
There were tunnels that twisted and turned like magical mazes.
There were rivers of fresh water that sparkled like diamonds.
And there were treats everywhere.
Huge carrots.
Gigantic apples.
Towering stacks of hamster cookies.
Suddenly, Roger heard a familiar squeak.
“Nugget?”
A golden blur raced toward him.
It was Nugget!
“Nugget!” Roger cried.
Nugget stood on his tiny back legs and wiggled his whiskers exactly the way he always had.
Roger scooped him up into his arms.
Nugget felt warm and soft and happy.
The little hamster nuzzled Roger’s cheek.
Roger laughed for the first time in days.
Together they explored Hamster Heaven.
They raced through tunnels.
They climbed mountains of bedding.
They slid down giant sunflower seeds.
They even rode on a merry-go-round made of spinning hamster wheels.
Everywhere they went, Nugget looked healthy, energetic, and full of joy.
When the sky began to glow with golden light, Roger knew it was almost time to go home.
His smile faded.
“I don’t want to leave,” he told Nugget.
Nugget gently placed his tiny paws on Roger’s hand.
Then something amazing happened.
Roger heard Nugget’s voice inside his heart.
“Don’t be sad, Roger.”
Roger blinked.
“I’m happy here. Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. I’ll always be your friend.”
Roger felt warmth spread through his chest.
“I’ll always love you too, Nugget.”
Nugget twitched his whiskers one last time.
Then the golden light grew brighter and brighter.
Roger slowly opened his eyes.
Morning sunlight streamed through his bedroom window.
For a moment, he thought it had all been a dream.
Then he looked at Nugget’s picture on the nightstand.
Instead of feeling sad, he smiled.
He remembered the endless tunnels.
The giant sunflower seeds.
The happy hamsters.
And most of all, he remembered Nugget.
Roger still missed his little friend sometimes.
But he wasn’t sad anymore.
Because in his heart, he knew that somewhere in Hamster Heaven, Nugget was running through beautiful tunnels, eating delicious treats, and having the happiest adventures a hamster could ever imagine.
And whenever Roger thought of him, he smiled.
The end. 🐹✨🌈
It’s the sweetest and kindest thing I’ve ever read
