Chapter 1: The Mirror
There was a day when I was truly terrified—a day when I realized that people often warn us never to buy things from garbage or purchase second-hand items. Like many others, I ignored such advice and eventually had to face the consequences. This is the story of how that happened.
The story begins on 12 August 2026. I woke up in my house and looked into the mirror. To my surprise, I suddenly realized that I did not have one. The thought saddened me. I was living in a three-story house without a single mirror. Determined to solve this problem, I decided that I would buy one that very day.
I quickly got ready and set out on my journey to find a mirror. I wandered from shop to shop, searching everywhere. Unfortunately, every mirror I found was far beyond my budget. Even the cheapest mirror cost five thousand rupees, while I had only two hundred rupees to spend.
Feeling disappointed and discouraged, I began my journey back home. However, on the way, I noticed a ragged-looking man who appeared poor and miserable. Despite his appearance, there was something that immediately caught my attention—he possessed a magnificent luxury mirror.
Curious, I approached him and asked about its price.
“It’s only five hundred rupees,” he replied.
I was astonished. How could such an elegant and luxurious mirror be sold for such a low price? Sadly, I still did not have enough money to buy it. Reluctantly, I prepared to leave.
Just then, the ragged man stopped me.
“You can take it for free,” he said.
I was completely bewildered. How could someone give away such a beautiful luxury mirror without asking for anything in return? Yet, with the widest smile on my face and without asking any further questions, I accepted the mirror.
But little did I know that accepting it would become the greatest mistake I would ever make.
