THE SIMULATION

The breath of your breadth

the bread of my breast

The burden of our brain

Born to entertain

A boundless domain

So hollowed and vain

How can we ever fill it, I complain.

The drops of rain try to silence the pain

Fine brushes trace the curves of your name

Your silhouette in the shadows of my game

You are everywhere and so am I.

All boundaries broken. Nude to the eye.

Roaming randomly, between right and wrong,

The sea and the sky,

There’s something that binds us, forever long.

Who knows why and where we belong.

Go here, go there, listen and learn

Don’t ask why, just look in the eye.

Beliefs and songs, truths and a lie

Make up the beauty that tricks the mind’s eye.

Philosophies change, truths reinvented,

art’s dirty secrets come out in the light to get vented.

Nothing new is ever told,

it’s only felt and dreamed of

before it too gets old.

Young people are dying like old ones,

We look the other way and hope it doesn’t happen to loved ones.

Until it does.

Only then do we rise and fight,

But often it still leads to the night.

Time is our master, commander, and king -

Rule it and you rule the borders of what lies between

the now, the then

You’ll rule the arrow’s spin.

The breath of your breadth

the bread of my breast

The burden of our brain

Born to entertain

A boundless domain

So hollowed and vain

How can we ever fill it, I complain.

You know what I think, even when I don’t.

You dance to the rhythm and I keep along.

I read the thoughts your face spells in a blink.

I know five languages but all I can think

Is of the one your body speaks, no - sings;

the one that makes me linger, makes me weak.

A harmonious sound,

A feast of creation,

the perfect machine.

Is this a simulation?

What’s the point of this game,

self indulgence or pain?

The choice is obscene in every aspect of this scene.

This vastness around us!

and us - on the tip of a pin.

The forecast is really looking quite grim.

A planet charged with an energy so rare,

so potent and explosive no star can compare.

A supernova burning within,

A dimension of contrasts, opposites, ambitions and shame.

A history full of people to blame.

A surreal blue marble hurling through space,

and we are so busy defending our race.

The race of our nations, the race of our face,

the race to the money, to God and to space.

It’s always a rush to run away from the now.

We always believe in some bright future - not now.

When will we ever stop and affront

the damage and suffering, open non stop?

“Competition,” they say, then “teamwork” they shout.

Not sure any longer if to play or to fight,

Children grow up chanting commercials day and night.

A new crop of people,

raised on pixels and brands.

Globalization of your soul

right through your pupil.

You can have the whole world,

If you don’t mind it was made of plastic on a computer.

But this pretend game won’t last.

It’s a mirage that hides a toxic mass.

A sea of poison turns the blue marble

into a plain covered in dust,

from what was once a life-rich marvel.

The signs of us won’t be here to last.

How big is Nature? How strong are we?

Why test the Fate, why provoke our destiny?

Procrastinate and discriminate,

allow love to be replaced by hate?

Can we overcome the basic instincts

that conflict the love of Self with the Love of All?

Can we turn a new page and write one chapter,

One, that talks about us all?

Equal rights, equal loves, equal lives.

We could have it all.

But some have their minds set otherwise.

The thinkers of today aren’t so good at thinking,

They think for Mars, of Wall Street, of good whiskey.

While we sink in plastic, our own garbage,

our anger, tears and, yes, cheap whiskey.

I watch you and I think.

You pace around me in circles and let me watch you think.

Like being in a cage with a lion who doesn’t mind,

a thrill every single time.

When I met you I was ready,

I had prepared my entire life just to be ready.

You swooped me right along,

confident that I’d be strong.

I learned to learn and never learn enough.

I swapped brain with stomach,

ate intelligently and hungered for knowledge.

Listen and learn, the answer is there.

A harmonious sound,

a feast of creation,

the perfect machine.

Is this a simulation?

If I am to do this, I shall do it well.

I won’t lie, steal, destroy or cause you to dwell.

I’ll move swiftly, be like water,

Bruce Lee said it well.

I’ll be light and be swell.

Promise to turn your life to heaven from a living hell.

I’ll set out to make life happy one bit at a time.

You’ll see the sum of it all will soon be sky high.

Methodically, stretching my own potential

Like the strings of the 11th dimension.

Pazienza it’s called in Italy.

Pazienza.

Do they give up when they say it?

I couldn’t know, they won’t even really tell it,

I’d simply and patiently would have to wait,

...how crazy, ain’t it?

Patience I have none of for indifference, injustice.

I am here to get busy, so I’ll go right at it.

I saw what the world’s made of,

what liars run it.

I have nothing against them,

they seem to come from another planet,

Forgive them.

They simply don’t get it.

But I know others, others who do.

And those others, they too

hold their own holy truths.

Numbers don’t lie,

numbers make truths.

Sooner not later the scales will fly

And the tip of the needle will dance wildly. Don’t cry.

Our destinies thrown up by invisible hands

An atmosphere cap to muffle the screams of earth’s end.

Leaving a burning trail made of hope,

like the star of the Saviour that history wrote.

2000 years and counting we are,

Not even Yoda has hopes

For some mercy to come from the sky.

We covered a vastness of time and events,

all things with one single obsessive unanswered end:

To try our best and in some way understand

what we are all here for what purpose, what blame.

And all of this noise of the questions we ask,

This humming of our wretched human pack,

Makes for one harmonious sound,

A feast of creation,

the perfect machine.

Is this a simulation?

Aren’t we one all just one,

one harmonious sound?

I choose to believe it.

Thanks to you, of course, for it.

I feel humble and rich in my lion’s savannah.

All I need is the wilderness,

the one within calls to the one outside it.

Every cell aches to break through the cell that surrounds us.

I long for horizons, for drunk sunrises, a night of Amore.

The breath of your breadth

the bread of my breast

The burden of our brain

Born to entertain

A boundless domain

So hollowed and vain

How can we ever fill it, I complain.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
