Chapter One: The Girl Who Didn’t Believe in Fate
The city lights of Blackwood shimmered beneath the evening sky as Chloe Hart stepped off the bus with nothing but two suitcases and a broken past she refused to carry anymore.
She inhaled deeply.
This is a new beginning.
Blackwood City was everything her hometown wasn’t—alive, luxurious, and intimidating. Towering skyscrapers touched the clouds while expensive cars filled the streets.
No one here knew her.
No one knew what she’d escaped.
That was exactly how she wanted it.
She adjusted the strap of her handbag and pulled out her phone.
Unknown Number
“Welcome to Blackwood City, Miss Hart.”
Her heart skipped.
She frowned, deleting the message without replying.
Probably a wrong number.
Or so she thought.
Several miles away…
The top floor of Blackwood Corporation overlooked the entire city.
Inside the glass-walled office, Alpha Callum Blackwood stood with one hand in his pocket, his piercing gray eyes fixed on the skyline.
Power.
Wealth.
Control.
He owned nearly half the city.
But none of it mattered.
For six years, he’d searched for the woman fate had stolen from him.
The Moon Goddess had promised she existed.
His mate.
Yet she’d never appeared.
Until tonight.
A sharp pain ripped through his chest.
His wolf surged violently beneath his skin.
“Mate…”
Callum froze.
The scent hit him before the vision did.
Vanilla.
Jasmine.
Rain.
His wolf growled.
“She’s here.”
Without another word, Callum grabbed his car keys and stormed out of his office.
His Beta, Damon, rushed after him.
“Alpha! The board meeting starts in five minutes.”
Callum didn’t even slow down.
“It can wait.”
“But—”
“I said…” His eyes flashed golden. “It can wait.”
The entire hallway fell silent.
If the Alpha abandoned a billion-dollar meeting…
Something extraordinary had happened.
Meanwhile…
Chloe smiled as she unlocked the door to the small apartment she’d rented online.
It wasn’t luxurious.
But it was peaceful.
She dropped her bags beside the couch and walked toward the large window overlooking the city.
For the first time in years…
She smiled.
“I’m finally free.”
Then the lights flickered.
The room suddenly grew cold.
A strange shiver crawled down her spine.
Someone was watching her.
She slowly turned toward the window.
Nothing.
Just darkness.
Unknown to Chloe…
Across the street, inside a black SUV, a pair of golden eyes never left her.
Callum tightened his grip on the steering wheel.
His wolf growled possessively.
“Mine.”
Callum’s voice was barely above a whisper.
“No…”
His jaw clenched.
“Not yet.”
Because the moment Chloe Hart discovered who he truly was…
She would either run from him…
Or become the Luna fate had chosen.

Good work
