Chapter 1: The Trap on West Main Street
Let’s set the scene. You’re walking downtown, keeping your eyes peeled. You know the layout of the streets, the blind spots, and the local shortcuts.
Suddenly, a sleek white luxury sedan rolls past the Palace Theater, and the tinted window slides down just a crack. You catch a glimpse of a tailored white sleeve. Mama Dee is in town.
Behind her, you spot them: Leo is checking her watch with a look of pure, astrological disgust, Tigress is eyeing you like a predator from the shadow of an alleyway, and Red is casually leaning against a lamppost, looking innocent but keeping her hand dangerously close to her jacket pocket.
You’re 40, turning 41 soon, and your analytical Virgo brain is already calculating the escape routes.
“Mama Dee, what are you doing in town?” I asked her
You ask the question, your voice steady but your mind racing, echoing off the concrete.
The rear window of the immaculate white sedan glides down the rest of the way with a soft, expensive hiss. There she is. Mama Dee herself, sitting back in the leather interior, looking like an absolute queen in a flawless, blindingly white blazer.
She doesn’t smile. She just looks at you with that heavy, imposing, Wilson Fisk-level presence that makes the air in downtown Waterbury feel ten degrees colder.
“I’m reclaiming my crown, Terrex,” she says, her voice smooth, dramatic, and utterly ruthless. “And cleaning up the neighborhood. You’ve been a little too observant for your own good.”
Before you can even reply, she lifts one manicured hand and makes a tiny, casual motion with her fingers. The signal.
From the shadow of the alley behind her, you hear a low, dangerous chuckle. Tigress (Angelina Jolie) steps into the dim light of the streetlamp, cracking her knuckles, eyes locked on you like a predator that just cornered its dinner. To your left, Leo (J-Lo) steps off the curb, checking her gold watch and glaring at you with pure, fiery disdain. “Ugh, a Virgo,” she mutters, her hand sliding inside her designer jacket. “Let’s get this over with.”
And just like that, Red (Auliʻi Cravalho) cuts off your easy path toward the Green, giving you a deceptively sweet smile that promises nothing but trouble.
You’ve got seconds. You know every brick, shortcut, and fire escape in this city, and they are expecting you to freeze.
“then mama dee spots something my notebook labeled Terrex personal jornal as i make a run for it
“Get that notebook!” Mama Dee barks, her calm composure cracking for a split second as her eyes lock onto the cover. “She knows what’s in there!”
Your heart hammers against your ribs as you tuck the Terrex Personal Journal tight against your chest like a football and bolt. Your 21 years of navigating Waterbury instantly kick into overdrive. You don’t take the main roads—that’s exactly what they want. Instead, you cut hard right, diving straight into a narrow alleyway you’ve walked a thousand times, heading toward the back routes behind the downtown storefronts.
Behind you, the hunt is on.
“He’s heading north!” Leo shouts, her heels clicking furiously against the pavement as she gives chase, absolutely furious that a Virgo is outrunning her.
You hear a sudden, terrifying sound echo through the brick alley—Tigress lets out a low, predatory roar that rattles the windowpanes above you, a psychological tactic meant to make you freeze. But you don’t stop. You know these old brick corners better than she does.
Up ahead, Red tries to cut you off by vaulting over a chain-link fence with Olympic-level agility, her innocent face replaced by pure, silent focus as she reaches out to grab the strap of your bag.
I swing the bag, hitting red in the face as I resume running
SMACK!
The heavy strap of your bag connects right with Red’s jaw. The unexpected impact catches her completely off guard, her head snapping back as she stumbles into a stack of empty crates. The sweet Disney-princess facade is officially gone—she’s spitting mad, wiping her lip as you dart past her.
“He just hit me with the journal!” Red yells, her voice echoing off the brick walls.
“Useless!” Leo (J-Lo) snarls, sprinting past her stunned teammate. “I told you Virgos are slippery!”
Behind them, you hear Tigress (Angelina Jolie) let out another low, furious growl, her heavy tactical boots pounding the pavement as she gains ground. They are relentless, but that split-second distraction gave you the head start you needed.
You fly down Church Street, your feet pounding the pavement as your chest heaves, clutching the journal tight. Behind you, you can hear the faint, furious shouts of Leo and Tigress echoing off the brick buildings.
You spot the Independence Center right ahead on Church. You don’t hesitate—you scramble right up the concrete handicap ramp, your heart in your throat, and slam your thumb onto the doorbell.
“Open, please!” you gasp into the intercom.
The satisfying, loud BUZZZZ of the electronic lock rings out. You yank the door open, slip inside, and slam it shut behind you with a heavy, metallic click.
Standing in the lobby is Kayla, looking at you with wide, utterly confused eyes.
“DO NOT UNLOCK THAT DOOR!” you pant, leaning your back against the glass, trying to catch your breath.
Kayla freezes, her hand hovering near the desk. “Terrex? What is going on? Who is outside?”
Before she can even finish her question, a shadow falls over the frosted glass of the front door. Through the pane, you see the unmistakable silhouette of J-Lo—Leo—stepping onto the ramp, her eyes scanning the street before locking onto the door of the Center. Behind her, the heavy, intimidating frame of Tigress emerges from the shadows of Church Street, looking like she’s ready to tear the door off its hinges.
“They’re after my journal,” you whisper to Kayla, holding the book tight. “And they don’t play.”
Kayla is one of the staff at the IC, as she asks why they are after the journal”
Kayla looks at the sheer panic in your eyes, then glances back at the heavy glass door. Outside, the shadow of Leo (J-Lo) steps right up to the frame. The brass door handle gives a sudden, violent rattle as she tries to force it open.
“Its personal,” you say, clutching the journal to your chest like it holds the secrets of the universe.
Kayla doesn’t ask another question. She sees the determination on your face and hears the rattling handle. She nods quickly, her staff instincts kicking right into gear. “Okay. Personal stays personal. Follow me, fast.”
Behind you, there’s a loud, frustrated smack against the glass outside.
“Open the door!” Leo’s voice barks through the frame, muffled but dripping with irritation. “I know you’re in there, Virgo! Don’t make us come in after you!”
Right next to her, Tigress (Angelina Jolie) steps up, peering through the frosted glass, her shadow looming massive and terrifying. She raises a fist, ready to shatter the security glass if she has to.
Kayla leads you quickly down the hallway of the Independence Center, past the main rooms, and toward the back. “We can’t stay in the lobby,” she whispers, looking back. “If they break that glass, they’ll have us cornered.”
You slip inside the staff office, locking the door behind you with a sharp click.
There, sitting at her desk, is Jazz (looking sharp and ready for action). She looks up, her blue ears twitching in surprise as you burst in out of breath, clutching your journal.
“Can I hang out with Jazz?” you call back to Kayla, your voice a hushed, urgent whisper. “And if they break in, you and Matt tell them I’m not here!”
Kayla gives you a firm, determined nod. “You got it, Terrex. Matt and I have the front. Keep your head down.”
You slam Jazz’s office door shut, cutting off the noise from the hallway.
Jazz looks at you, her eyes wide as she takes in your disheveled look and the tightly gripped notebook. She immediately slides her chair back, sensing the high stakes. “Terrex, what’s going on? You look like you just ran a marathon down Church Street.”
“Mama Dee,” you pant, leaning against her door to add extra weight. “She’s in Waterbury. She’s got Leo, Tigress, and Red with her. They’re after my journal. Kayla and Matt are covering the lobby, but I don’t know how long they can hold them off.”
Outside in the main hallway, a heavy THUD echoes.
The glass at the front of the Independence Center didn’t just rattle this time—it sounded like Tigress just tried to kick the door off its frame. You can hear Kayla’s brave voice echoing through the corridor: “Excuse me! You can’t be in here, this is private property!”
Followed by the unmistakable, cold, diva tone of J-Lo (Leo): “Step aside, sweetheart. We’re looking for a Virgo with a very important notebook. Don’t make us get messy.”
Jazz’s eyes go wide. She looks at you, then at the window, and then at a heavy metal filing cabinet near the door.
“Okay,” Jazz whispers, her voice dropping to a serious, tactical tone. “We need to barricade this door, or find another way out. What’s the plan, Terrex? Do we push the cabinet in front of the door, or does your journal have a secret map of this building we can use?”
The chaotic noise from the lobby suddenly goes dead silent.
Inside the dim office, you and Jazz freeze. You press your back flat against the wall next to the door, clutching the Terrex Personal Journal so tightly against your chest that your knuckles turn white. Jazz stands perfectly still beside you, her eyes wide, holding her breath.
Outside the door, the heavy, deliberate thud of combat boots stops.
Right on the other side of the thin wooden panel, there is a pause. Then, a chilling, low rumble vibrates through the floorboards—a deep, predatory growl that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand straight up.
Tigress.
A shadow blocks the crack of light at the bottom of the door. Through the wood, you hear it: a sharp, loud, deliberate inhale. She is sniffing the air, tracking your scent like a wolf on the hunt.
You and Jazz don’t dare to breathe. You don’t dare to move a muscle. In the suffocating silence of the office, the only sound is the quiet, terrifying rhythm of your own racing heart.
They are right outside.
