Prologue
The jagged rocks rise from the murky waters of the Pacific Ocean like the teeth of Satan himself. Hence their name – the Devil’s Teeth. The name is further reinforced by the fact that the islands are like hell on Earth. They are nearly impenetrable, and are home only to sea birds and seals. One lone house stands on the largest rock, kept company by a decrepit lighthouse.
Add to that, this particular hell is patrolled beneath the waves by creatures from Man’s worst nightmares. Gunmetal grey, snowflake white, with fifty-odd steak knives in their jaws, the great whites of the Farallon Islands cruise the waves during the summer and fall months hunting the fat-rich seals.
And out of all of them, one other creature stands alone. Something that exists only in Man’s imagination, the female the size of a large great white swims with her Brethren.
These are the Devil’s Teeth, and she – she is the Devil’s Queen.
