Do you still remember me?
I do.
I remember perfectly the day I met you.
We were just children. I had only recently arrived in Suna with my family to settle in that village, never knowing that it would eventually come to shape my entire life.
We didn't meet until a few weeks after my arrival. I saw you walking alongside your siblings. Much later, you would tell me that you had gone to help bring back your friend's teammate.
Our first encounter was strange... and a little embarrassing. I still smile whenever I remember it.
—Are you okay?
Your voice fascinated me. I stared at you like an idiot until I noticed that the sand was holding me up before I could fall completely.
I wondered, embarrassed, how on earth I had managed to trip over my own foot. I had always been a distracted girl, so I suppose it was only a matter of time.
—Y-Yes... I'm sorry.
I ran away from there as if the ground were burning beneath my sandals. The embarrassment made my face feel like it was on fire.
Though I have to admit, from that moment on, you had my attention.
A few days later, we ran into each other again.
And, to my misfortune, I tripped once more.
But this time, there was no sand to catch me.
The impact hurt. I felt it hit me directly in the nose, and tears welled up in my eyes before I could stop them.
You approached me again.
—Are you okay?
I simply nodded, unable to meet your gaze. You helped me to my feet and, without saying much else, handed me a chocolate you had just bought.
It was a simple gesture. But to me, it meant more than you could ever imagine.
Little by little, we began talking more often.
Spending time with you was... easy. Natural. Fun.
I don't know when it happened, but by the time I realized it, I already had feelings for you.
It was a new feeling, something I had never experienced before. I tried to distance myself because I thought it was wrong to feel that way.
But in the end, it didn't matter.
