Checking In
Charlie wakes up and is immediately ready to pass out. Ever since Vox was defeated and Pentious’s redemption was proven to be true, there have been far too many guests for her to manage (even though that’s SUPPOSED to be Alastor’s job) on her own. She groggily stumbles down to the lobby, and is startled awake by a knock at the door. She tries (and fails) to fix her hair, and then opens the door to find someone she would have never expected to see.
“Greetings, princess,” you say with a small bow. “I’m here to- wait, what happened to your hair? N-no offense, of course.”
“Ugh, just a stressful workload lately,” Charlie answers. “Anyway, what brings you here, Y/N?”
“Oh, please, no need for formalities, Char. We’re cousins. Just call me Loki.”
“Right. Well Loki, what are you here for?” She asks again.
“Given your situation, something you’ll find quite enticing. I am here to seek employment,” you explain. “I assume you’re more than aware by now just how influential your business has become. Now that all of Hell known that rehabilitation is possible, you likely have hundreds of visitors. Having my name attached to that could help me. You see, sinners aren’t the only ones suffering due to Hell’s overpopulation. I hope to convince Heaven to make space for our own Hellborn.”
“You think it’s possible for Hellborm to get into Heaven too?” Charlie asks
“Oh, of course not. Not by divine judgment, anyway. No soul, no redemption. But surely the angels above can make room for some of the more virtuous Hellborn.”
“Well, we could use a host,” Charlie says.
“Don’t you have Alastor?” You ask.
“Hardly,” she scoffs. “He got out of some deal and now he’s showboating like he owns the entire realm.”
“How rude,” Alastor says, appearing behind Charlie, who lets out a small, startled yelp. “I’d like to think I’ve been up to par as the host of this hotel.”
“Alastor, I assume?” You ask.
“The one and only,” he answers. “And you are?”
“Y/N, the heir to the throne of Envy,” you answer.
“Oh? The child of Leviathan? To what do I owe the pleasure of speaking to such a high-ranking demon?” Alastor asks.
“SOMEONE’S gotta do your job,” Charlie quips.
“You are in a MOOD today, Char!” You point out
“Sorry, it’s just been… a lot, since Angel Dust left,” she explains.
“Speaking of which,” you say, “hasn’t it been a few months now? Have you heard from him?”
“He’s texted us a few times to let us know he’s okay,” Charlie answers, “but I still worry.”
“Yeah… anything else new?” You ask.
“Oh! Uh, Baxter and Niffty are dating now!” Charlie says.
“The two shortest people here?”
“Yeah, apparently he’s into her… whatever she’s got going on, and she likes that he can genetically modify bugs,” she explains.
“Weird foundation for a relationship, but sure, whatever,” you say with a shrug.
You notice Emily, the seraphim, looking at you. You wave, and she looks away. Cherri Bomb approaches her. “Oi, you a scalie or something, Em?”
“I… don’t know what that is,” she says.
“We have SO much to talk about,” Cherri replies.
You approach the bar and ask Husker for a glass of red wine. He obliges, then watches as you sprout a black tentacle from your back and use it to place a single drop of slime into the wine.
“What’s that hentai shit you’re doing?” Husk asks.
“Makes it so the wine won’t get me drunk, but the flavor is still there,” you explain.
“Huh. That’s actually pretty neat,” he says. “I wonder if we can add that to the menu.”
“Only if I get paid for it,” you say with a teasing smile.
Husk lets out a singke “heh.”
