Immortal Destroyer: Upheaval [Volume 2]

Summary

In his current life, Li Xiaolong learned about the situation the Li Clan was facing in order to survive in the cruel world of Cultivation. The Sky Flame Kingdom had begun to show its fangs, and the defenses of the three other kingdoms—the Sky Ice Kingdom, Hollow Earth Kingdom, and Wind Fury Kingdom—were alerted. The only solution he saw was to establish a connection with the Feathers Guild, a famous organization known for gathering information, as well as for its neutrality toward everyone. The young boy Li Xiaolong was truly brave and strong-willed. He was not easily shaken, and he decided to disguise himself as a decrepit old man called Honorable Long at the Jade Auction House. Fate seemed playful—the dangers and opportunities themselves seemed connected. Unexpectedly, it was the Jade Auction House that paved the way for the young Li Xiaolong’s path to cross with Prince Feng, the prodigal son of the current king of the Sky Flame Kingdom. What if the evil forces within these kingdoms began to join the chaotic situation among the four great kingdoms? Could the order and peace between the four kingdoms still be maintained because of the old agreement?

Chapter 1: Doubts

Li Xiaolong seemed to frown at what the beautiful woman in front of him had said. But when he thought about it and absorbed all the information she had given him, it did make sense, especially since there seemed to be things he had overlooked. First, who exactly were the Xiantian Realm Experts in Green Valley? Only he and the remaining living Clan Chiefs of their neighboring clans could become the hope of the clans of Green Valley, but they were still nothing compared to the Sky Flame Kingdom itself—the claws it had spread throughout the different parts of the territory under that kingdom.

“All right, Miss, I admit I was a little overconfident in my strength, but I know I can’t stand against the hidden, overwhelmingly powerful force possessed by the Sky Flame Kingdom. Still, I believe that one day I’ll be able to match them and destroy them if necessary. What I was thinking is that I need to become strong, because I know it is beyond unlikely that we could deal with the Sky Flame Kingdom if the thing I—or we—fear actually happens. I admit I was wrong to underestimate them, especially since I thought the Xiantian Realm or Blood Warrior Realm was already the highest level of Cultivation in the four kingdoms or in Dou City. But you can’t blame me or us for being weak, because we have always been at the bottom, with no justice and no ability to grow on our own without obstacles,” Li Xiaolong said seriously. He knew the beautiful woman in front of him had a point, but somehow, it felt to him as though she saw him—or all of them—as extremely insignificant.

She was the first one to say such painful words to him… no, the second, actually. He knew that Fai, the talking quoll, could speak harshly but the beautiful woman in front of him was even more brutal and blunt, making him feel small. It was truly a huge blow to him, especially since he, or rather they, really had nothing to rely on.

“So it’s my fault? It’s our fault, then? You should blame yourselves and reflect on where all of you fell short—or where you did. To be exact, blame your ancestors, not me, as if this were somehow my fault. What I said is not even the most painful thing I could say to you, child, nor will I change my attitude toward you. My words may hurt, but they are meant to make you learn. This is not a place suited for weak beings, child. If you are truly giving up and cannot accept what I have to say to you, then as early as now, stop cultivating and stop being a martial artist. Just let your loved ones die, or let the innocent lives of the people in your clan or in Green Valley die. In fact, I can’t help you physically, yet you make it sound as if it would be my fault if people among you died or if that place called Green Valley were destroyed. I am not your enemy, young Xiaolong, so do not drag me into the recklessness of this Sky Flame Kingdom you speak of!” the beautiful woman in front of Li Xiaolong said seriously. Her tone clearly revealed how irritated she was by what Li Xiaolong had said.

Li Xiaolong’s eyes widened, and he simply lowered his head throughout everything the beautiful woman in front of him was saying.

“I’m sorry, beautiful Miss. I didn’t mean what I said, especially since you misinterpreted my words. I admit I went a little too far, but I just don’t want the whole of Green Valley to be destroyed and I don’t want to stop being a martial artist. I chose the path of Cultivation not only for myself, but also for the people who are important to me,” Li Xiaolong said seriously in a low voice. It was clear that he regretted what he had said.

“Hmph! It was the way your words sounded. I know the problem you are being forced to worry about is not appropriate for your age, but everyone is already affected. If what you want is to kill or stop the enemy, young Xiaolong, then I cannot help you with that, because I cannot even help myself. But do you remember what I told you was the most important quality a being in this world must possess in order to continue existing?” the beautiful woman in front of Li Xiaolong said gently, only a few fathoms away from him. Even though she felt hurt and irritated, she did not want to let those feelings take over, especially since Li Xiaolong was in a critical situation.

“Of course, beautiful Miss. The ability to survive, or Survivability.” Li Xiaolong said brightly while looking at the beautiful young woman in front of him. It seemed he had composed himself. Even though he could feel they had not fully made peace yet, he knew the beautiful yet mysterious woman in front of him had good intentions and a good heart—and that she wanted to help him.

“Correct. Good thing you were listening to me properly. I thought you had just let it go in one ear and out the other,” the beautiful woman said with a smile, as if teasing him.

Li Xiaolong blushed in embarrassment after hearing what the beautiful woman in front of him said.

“No. But may I ask, beautiful Miss, how am I supposed to apply it when you know I don’t know anything about this Survivability you are talking about? Could you explain further?” Li Xiaolong said, clearly puzzled, especially about the Survivability she had mentioned. From every angle, Annihilation was the only solution he could see, just like with a clan he wanted to help together with his family. It was extremely selfish to think that way, especially after the large price he had paid for it—no need to elaborate, particularly when it came to transactions. They were also forbidden from interfering directly in the conflict between the Sky Flame Kingdom and the small Li Clan, because they would surely be punished by the Wind Fury Kingdom. He had already asked for a great favor and they could only help him once. Others might think he was desperate or extremely selfish, but who was he not to think of the safety of his own family?

“Okay, no more beating around the bush, child. Is there any force that can equal or oppose the Sky Flame Kingdom? One that they would not be able to defeat even after several years? Think of a possibility that could match the authority of the arrogant Sky Flame Kingdom,” the beautiful woman in front of Li Xiaolong said seriously, phrasing it as a question.

Li Xiaolong fell into deep thought after hearing the beautiful woman’s words. Who could possibly match the Sky Flame Kingdom in terms of power or authority?
