The beginning

I look back as I see my sister being tossed into a pit of fire. Suddenly, my body wouldn’t listen to me. I was telling it to run but all it did was stay.

Suddenly Markus grabbed my arm pulling me through the forest, as the branches smacked my face, as tears rolled down my face.

All I could think about is my family and what happened, as Lee and Markus were holding back tears, tears of suffering.

Just then an arrow sliced through the air and struck my leg. I let out an agonizing scream as tears clouded my vision, but I had to keep going, if I stopped we would all be killed.

Then I woke up in a panic as I realized that it was just a dream, a terrible nightmare. I heard a knock. As I got up the knocking grew louder, as I walked each step felt like years. I opened the door and an owl flew in and dashed past my head, an elf was with it. The elf’s eyes traveled to the scar on my leg then back to me.

‘’Good morning  fair fay we bring a message from the queen and king ‘‘shouted the elf

‘’Oh morning kind elf I’m guessing the owl has the message’’I asked

‘’Well yes coco please come’’he asked the owl

The owl flew to him dropping a scroll in his hand then he looked at me and said

‘’Here you go miss Fay’’

As he handed the scroll to me

‘’Thank you kind elf’’ i said politely

Then he walked off into the forest I closed the door and opened the scroll it read.

                     Dear Eleanor moonfen

We extend an urgent request for your assistance in safeguarding the life of a vulnerable individual.

The individual in question, known as the “Black Night,” is a dangerous man who is pursuing the life of the prince. As the sole heir to the royal family, the prince requires our utmost protection.

Recognizing your expertise and dedication, we are reaching out to you to offer you a unique opportunity to serve as his bodyguard. While this may not align with your professional background, we believe you possess the necessary skills and qualities to fulfill this role.

If you are interested in accepting this position, we will provide you with a comprehensive package that includes a salary of excellence, a private bedroom with a bathroom and kitchenette, and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of the prince and the royal family.

We kindly request that you visit the castle to discuss this matter further. You have a week to make your decision.

                          Sincerely,

               The House of ironvale

I looked at the scroll for seemingly weeks, but no matter how many times I reread it, it was the same.

Why would they want me around their son,

but it has a great payment deal. I mean any price of my choosing this can’t be real can it. but also a place to live and in the castle to,

so it must be really nice.

it’ll take a while to even get there.

I started pacing around the room. I don’t know it sounds pretty decent but why don’t they just hire a bodyguard, not me.

I mean it does make sense,  I mean at least I think it does.

I know what I’ll just take a walk to clear my head.

I open the door of my little cabin and walk.

the birds were chirping, you could hear the dragons flying.

You could see purple petals falling down from the trees, the flippy  floppys hopping some even stopped to look at me, even the walking snails looked at me and a two even ran up,

these two who regularly stopped by my cabin for food i named them jack and rose.

 they were brother and sister,

if i took the job i a 100 percent take them with me.

i pet them and played with them for maybe a hour before i started to walk back to my cabin.

Jack and rose were never more than a foot behind me.

i open my cabin doors and jack and rose came in behind me and started eating out of a bowl,

i have laid on the ground for them filled with leafs and flowers especially rose petals. as they munched on the rose petals and carrot tops,

i go to the kitchen and look in my pantry for some bread,

dang it its gone those squirrels must of taken it again, then I noticed the scroll on the counter. i feel my stomach drop.

ugh why now life is finally getting good and then this happens.

i stare at the scroll as if it’ll move any second now. Then I hear a ear-piercing crash that caches my attention,

rose was on  the table.

And next to the table on the ground was a broken glass shattered in a million pieces the shimmer of sunlight made the fragments glint like tiny daggers. Jack looked like he was angry at rose.

 rose looked scared.

As I walked over and started picking the pieces of glass up with my hands.

I cut my hands on the glass, but I continued picking the glass up and throwing it away.

i walked over to a old cabinet I’ve had for years opened it it was full with bandages and herbs some crushed some liquefied, I grabbed some bandages and wrapped it around my hand after i was finished rose came up to me, i bent down and then she started licking  my hand it was so cute!

ᐠ( ᐢ ᵕ ᐢ )ᐟ

3 days has passed I have decided to go I haven’t been hired in over 2 months anyway as I’m packing i stuff the rest of the money i have left in a pocket on the inside of my jacket as I stuff clothes after clothes in a big bag i here a knock i opened the door and there was the same elf from before but this time he had with him a carriage pulled by some luck dragons

‘’Hello miss fay here we meet again’’ he said happily gesturing towards the carriage

‘’the king and queen received your owl and sent me to get you’’he explained

‘’oh I didn’t expect a answer so soon’’ i said a little bit surprised

‘’ im almost done packing not that i have much to pack’’i said in a cheerful tone

the elf Peered past the door to see one big bag and two small bags he turned to me confused

’’um is this all?’’ He asked confused

’’yes it is‘’I replied confidently

’’oh well get it loaded in then’’he said awkwardly

The carriage had straps up on the roof they looked like they were meant to hold my things i walked into my cabin as jack and rose clumsy climbed into the carriage the elf walked in with a mix of Curiosity and worry on his face

‘’you sure this is all’’ he asked looking around noticing the open pantry

“Oh” he muttered

He sounded like he was sorry for me

“I…..” he quietly turned to me with a look of sympathy on his face his eyes slightly red

“Ok let’s get your stuff out now” he said suddenly happy

“Ok”I muttered annoyed

My Second Chance

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

Loved, Loudly

Merrell Bunting: Well written, kind of quiet story, I enjoyed it. I am still a bit perplexed over whether this was a second chance mating story with choosing or completely a chosen mate story. If it is a chosen mate tale it leaves one a bit worried about a fated mate showing up. Either way it was a nice read.
