The Destruction of the Shroud

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

To tear down an empire of shadows, they must face the deadliest killers alive… and each other. For centuries, the Hallowed Shroud has ruled the continent from the dark, its absolute power enforced by the Eight Blades: master assassins whose names are spoken only in whispers. To challenge them is suicide. To dismantle them requires an impossible alliance. Bound by desperation, six broken outcasts answer the call: Balasar, a leader carrying a dark bargain to save his lost lover; Colette, a rogue running from her past with the Shroud; Talion, a fugitive paladin; Varic, a cold strategist; Liriel, a shapeshifter bound to an ancient spirit; and Joliann, a fugitive mage. To stand a chance against the brutal magic of the Blades, this mismatched squad must fight across a blood-soaked continent. But the deadliest threat isn't the assassins hunting them from the shadows—it’s the secrets they keep from one another. As trust fractures under the heavy costs of war, they realize the line between ally and enemy is razor-thin. If they want their freedom, they will have to survive the continent's most ruthless killers... even if the greatest danger sits right next to them at the campfire.

My Second Chance

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

Cynical Optimist : You can never go wrong with a B. E. Harmel story. The plot is intriguing and the protagonists are mature and sensible.I was a little disappointed with the stylized writing. Loved, Loudly

Merrell Bunting: Well written, kind of quiet story, I enjoyed it. I am still a bit perplexed over whether this was a second chance mating story with choosing or completely a chosen mate story. If it is a chosen mate tale it leaves one a bit worried about a fated mate showing up. Either way it was a nice read.
