Prologue
“You want to break up?” I didn’t dare to look at her while asking the question what shatters my heart every time.
“I don’t want to.” Bailee’s voice quivered. I knew she was on the verge of crying. I slowly looked in her dark brown eyes what were welled up with tears.
“Then don’t go away.” I took her hands on mine before kissing her knuckles.
“I wish, I could...” She stood up from the bench and turned around from me.
“You ca..” I couldn’t finish my words as I was cut by her.
“I love you, Alex.” Then she ran away not even looking back at me for once.
All I was sitting on the bench of the lonely park, shocked by her confession. A tear rolled down my left eye. I was smiling, at the same time my eyes couldn’t hold the tears. For the first time in life, a sudden tug in my heart felt... amazing. But Bailee was shifting. Not just from the state only but from the county.
I stood up clumsily from the bench and started walking down the pave. It was a common spring day though shiver ran down my spine as cold air flowed by. All I was thinking about Bailee’s confession to me that she loved me. Do I love her too?
As I was walking home with hundreds of thoughts in my mind, I stumbled on something. Almost falling on the ground with my face first, I luckily balanced myself with hands before looking down to see what I stumbled on.
A wallet. A lost wallet...
