Superb
"I really enjoyed reading this short story. It was not what I expected at all. I loved the way it was set out in an interview form, and the appendices at the end added a lot to the overall story. The character, the AI Hydra, was intriguing and you could feel her sadness throughout the story. Being a fan of Zombies and zombie stories, the addition of the Z1 disease was a bonus for me. It was a good twist and added another layer to the warfare between Hydra and the human race. I also liked how Hydra didn't out and out win, the human race was able to fight back, but in the end were not successful. The writing style was easy to read and your use of language was excellent. You have my vote!"
Brilliant Experimental Sci-Fi
"I enjoy this sub-genre of science fiction (if you can call it a genre) where the work mimics an official document, report, or academic work and side-steps the usual business of telling a story. Science fiction of all forms should be the most open to experimentation, and this story is no exception: I love how it begins as a simple documentary interrogation of "Construct Hydra," who is initially unwilling to tell its story or play along with the interrogators' games. The unfolding of the Hydra's story is well-paced and riveting, and the narrative never flinches--it always sounds like a bureaucratic going-through-the-numbers investigation...until the truth is revealed. Very well done throughout. It reminds me also a bit of the beginning of Blade Runner, where the by-the-numbers investigator is interrogating one of the replicants with the story about the turtle. I imagine this becoming the 'bones' of an entire novel, where the novel opens like this, and then once Hydra starts playing along, we flash back into chapters of another story, with interjections from the "present" as the interrogation rolls along. My only criticism is that Hydra's recounting of the events of its past can occasionally sound a bit too expository, which makes me think you could play with this in a longer work allowing more development and sheer story telling. However, it's still an amazing work and I read it beginning to end with barely an awareness that I was even reading a story! Hope to read more..."
