Prologue
Life never goes the way we plan.
I always thought I would have a normal life. Something close to what my mom and dad have. I had it all planned out.
I would go to school, get good grades, make friends, date, go to college, have the typical young adult life, graduate, get married, and have three adorable little children with a normal husband and a house with a white picket fence. A very simple life, no? Quite typical, right?
Normal?
I’ve lived the first 16 years of my life as a normal girl. My friends are normal, my parents are normal, the town I live in is normal. I am normal. All I have ever known is normal.
So, I ask myself, you, the world, the universe, how did I get here?
How did I end up laying here under the starry night sky with my not-so-normal boyfriend? Gazing up at the moon, basking in its glowing rays and receiving its energy.
And I can guess what you are thinking, what exactly makes him not so “normal?” Heh. Well, that’s a loaded question with a long and unbelievable story behind it. A story filled with laughter, happy times, naive teenagers, dark secrets, death, and sadness.
But before I get into that long story, I have a question for you. A question I wished someone asked me before everything changed. A question that makes no sense until you’ve been down the rabbit hole and back again. So, I ask,
Who are you?
I once was a normal girl, living a normal life with my parents in an average town. My friends were normal and I had my whole future planned out. Down to the littlest detail.
And now? You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. I wouldn’t believe me. It’s not normal. My life is no longer “normal.” The furthest thing from normal.
I am Aurora Phoenix Feray-Hunter, and this is my not-so-normal story.
