CHAPTER ONE

Whenever someone about to die, she appears in town.

She is a strange woman, dressing in a black fleece cloak and wearing a ram skull on her head like battle armour. There is something divine about her. Something in the fluidness of her body, in the way her bare feet, streaking with dry dirt, dancing on the ground. Her proud, tilted chin. The ringing of silver bells on her hips, the silver jewels donned her hair and fingers and arms and feet. Her black, glittering eyes that shine from the dead ram’s eyeholes. Her husky voice, painted with blood-red lipstick and bejeweled with pearly white teeth.

Nobody knows her name, or where did she come from, where does she live, or how old is she, what is she doing here in Shinwa.

The Nomad flutters from places to places as if looking for something, but never seem to remain anywhere more than five minutes. When she’s gone, an air of quiet stun trailing behind.

Usually, a few hours following her appearance, someone die. Sometimes, a few weeks. But in the end, they all die.

She always attends the funerals. Lurking at the edge of the crowd like a shadow. Silent as graves, gazing at the corpse with heavy-lidded eyes. Raining, snowing, sweltering hot or freezing cold, she’s always there, remaining long after the family left. Her signature skull looming, bold and white and malicious.

The town had come to view her as she’s the omen of death. Something of God. Something that must be treated with utmost respect and fear. A very own Grim Reaper of Shinwa. She had become something legendary of the town, a mascot. Tourists pour in every year, hoping to catch a sight of this weird sister.

Asorotany knows better, though. He knows the Nomad woman is a killer. Holy or not.

She’s the one responsible for the death of people all these years.

It is a fact. She is a very talented serial killer.

Asorotany knows it, but he can’t prove it. Not yet, anyway.

But he will. Starting from today. Starting when he had earned that police badge on his chest.

There’s no such thing as God’s work.

Asorotany stops at nothing to reveal how she wiped clean of every single evidences.

He will find out how did his brother die under her hands.

The justice may hesitate to track her down, but he doesn’t.

Angela Dahmen: Nicht ganz logisch. Sie studiert Medizin und kennt sich mit der alten Kräuterkunde aus und schluckt trotzdem die Tabletten ohne zu wissen was drin ist.
