Chapter 1

Violette’s P.O.V. :

Glancing towards the digital clock hanging from the wall of the restaurant, I sighed. It was 9 pm, which means there are three more hours left till closing time. The diner was awfully busy today. Not many tables were unoccupied.

“Violette, there are guests sitting at your unit. So please hurry up.” Kitty said with her snobby attitude. I huffed and rolled my eyes at her, Caleb giving me an apologetic look. She has been like this since the day one of my job. I don’t know what her problem was, though. Just because I behave nicely with the customers doesn’t mean she has to act all bossy.

I reached my section and immediately spotted the newly arrived couple. I cleared my throat, put on a genuine smile and went took two menus from the table.

“Welcome to Dolce Vita, I hope you have a nice evening. My name is Violette and I will be serving you today.” I said and gave them the menus. Both of them nodded smiled at me. I gave them their menus and took out my notepad from my pocket in the apron.

“I will like some roasted steak and my lady here will have the Marron with Lemon Butter and Thyme.” The man said and smiled lovingly at his wife.

“Any dessert you want to have?” I asked scribbling down the order.

“One Chocó Lava cake and two forks. We want to share.” The man said and winked at his wife making her blush. I scribbled that down also and went to the kitchen, wondering about the day when I will have someone to care for me....

“You think you’re gonna be okay walking alone?” Caleb asked me as I was slipping on my coat.

“Yeah Cal, I will be fine. Besides today is Saturday. Go have fun with your friends. Don’t let me be a bother.” I said smiling.

“Oh sweet cheeks, you can never be a bother! You are like the sister I never had. I love you.” He said kissing my forehead.

“Awww Cal, I love you too. But seriously, you take me to home every day. It won’t kill me to walk one day.” I said with a chuckle. Caleb was reluctant at first but then he let go. We both walked out at the same time and then waved at each other and went our own ways.

As soon as I walked in the alley nearing my house, a cool gust of wind blew past me making me shiver. The November weather is taking a turn for the worst. I hugged my coat tighter around me and started to walk as quickly as I can to reach the comfort of my home faster.

While walking, I felt the presence of someone behind me. I turned around, but there was no one in the alley beside me. The street light started flickering above me. By this time, I was scared shitless. The whole appearance resembles a scary horror movie and I am NOT someone who likes or watches them.

“Fuck,” I cursed under my breath and started walking faster. It was times like this that I curse myself for not bringing my car to work. But seriously, you don’t need to bring a car when your workplace is just 10 minutes from where you live.

“Hello, sexy.......” someone’s slurry words, made me jump 5 feet above the ground. I quickly opened my bag, and searched for the pepper spray that I always keep.

I swivelled around and saw a boy, no more than 17, wearing an old band t-shirt and dark wash jeans. His eyes were bloodshot and he reeked of weed and alcohol. But his most menacing character was the smirk that adorned his face. This was exactly the type of crowd I try to avoid, but seems like that ain’t happening.

“What is a sexy, innocent, girl like you doing in a place like this?” the boy asked inching closer towards me. It was then I noticed that he had backed me up against a wall.

“G-get away f-from m-me....” I stuttered, cleverly, but slowly taking the spray out from behind my back.

But, no sooner had I taken it out, than he held on to my wrist and twisted it, making the spray fall on the ground.

“Are you scared of me?” he tsked, “We have to change that, don’t we?” he said and started placing kisses along my neck.

I cringed with disgust and my eyes stung with unshed tears. He held my twisted hands behind me and it hurt like hell. I stopped struggling when his hands reached the zipper of my dress, because I knew that this was the end.

“Oi! What’s happening here?!” Someone’s angry voice startled the boy holding me hostage.

He immediately shoved me to the ground and ran away. The impact of the fall made me scrape my left knee and I was already unable to feel my wrists.....

Great!

“Are you alright?” the same man from before said, but gently.

I turned around on the ground to see my saviour. A man in his early 20′s wearing a long coat and skinny black jeans. He wore black boots. Then my eyes met his. My dark brown meeting his jade, forest green eyes, staring back at me. He had a mop of chocolate brown curls on his head and his face was pale like porcelain. He was the epitome of a handsome man.

A few more minutes passed and I realised I was staring. I took my eyes off him and felt my cheeks heat up. I took his outstretched hand and got up, ignoring the icy coldness of it.

“Yeah...... and thanks for saving me.” I said looking at the ground.

“It’s my duty right? Anyways, what’s your name?” the man asked in his raspy voice. He had a heavy British accent that made me melt in my panties.

Bad Violette!

“Violette, Violette Moore. Yours?” I asked.

“Jaxon Petrov.” He said and we walked in silence for a few minutes.

“What are you doing here at such a late hour of night Violette?” Jaxon asked and I just about swooned at the way my name rolled off his tongue.

“Oh..... um..... actually I was just returning from my work. This alley is close to my home so....” I trailed off when I saw his gaze fixated at my knee, which had some dried blood from the gash that was made because of the fall.

“Jaxon?” I asked tilting my head. I swear I saw his eyes turning red.

Weird.

“Uh....” he cleared his throat,” yeah, let’s go.” He said stuffing his hands in coat pockets and blinked his eyes. They turned back to normal.

Holy fudge!

The rest of the walk to my house was pretty weird. There was an awkward silence among us. That made me think. What would have happened if he hadn’t of been there. I would have ended up losing my virginity to some wanker. Yup, 20 years old and still a virgin.

It’s not that I am a prude. Trust me, I am not. I have had my fare share of oral encounters. But having sex is a whole different topic. It’s not like I am waiting for marriage or anything. It’s just that I don’t want to lose in some meaningless one night stand. I want to have my first time with someone who loves me, cares about me and most of all respects me. Many of my friends tease me for that, say that I am very uptight...... but you can’t blame me for having hopes.

As soon as the familiar curb came into view, I released a sigh of relief.

“I guess it’s my stop.” I said stuffing my hands in my pockets,” thanks again for helping me.”

“Don’t thank me. It’s fine.” He said. I couldn’t help but notice the slight annoyance in his tone.

“Okay....... See you around.” I said.

“Yeah....” it seemed like he wanted to tell me something else, but didn’t push it. I shrugged it off and waved him one last time and went in.

Once in, I stripped my clothes as quickly as I can and went to take a shower. This is one thing that always helps to reduce my stress and after today’s events, I am in desperate need for a lavender bath.

After showering I put on my lace nightwear and went out like a light once I hit the bed.
