Chapter 1
Prologue, 2011.
Nineteen year old Ariel Rosabelle Montgomery knew something was wrong with her and has known for almost two months now, the answer sat in front of her on the bathroom counter. The white stick told her she was pregnant, pregnant and single. Tears rolled down her cheeks in fear, was she ready to be a mother? what would the father say? where is the father? Ariel knew who the father was but she didn’t know where he was, they weren’t dating when they slept together. It was an accident, they were both a little drunk and one thing led to another. Besides, who knows if he wants to be a father, she hasn’t seen him in two months. The father of this baby was a twenty year old male named Andrew Biersack, lead singer of the band Black Veil Brides. The band was just becoming popular since they released their album We Stitch These Wounds last year in June, which is why she knew him. She met him one night after a concert, they talked and went to his tour bus and started to drink and then it went to making out, to the bedroom. She was sure he didn't even live in this state, he lived in Hollywood somewhere. She felt alone and confused, she didn’t know what to do. What would her family say about all of this? would she be able to raise a baby on her own? Thoughts of abortion and adoption was going through her head, but as she thought about it she couldn’t do either of those things. Maybe she wanted to be a mother, or try to be. She thought about trying to contact Andrew, but what if he didn’t want anything to do with the baby? He was starting out his career, did he want to ruin it with a child on the way to a girl he just slept with once? Ariel picked up the pregnancy test and tossed it into the trash bin beside the toilet and wiped her tears away, she still lived with her parents sadly but she did have a job and was working on moving out eventually. She opened the bathroom door and stepped out into her bedroom, she was going to tell her parents, she needed to. She needed help. She headed down the hallway and entered the living room, her father Leon sat on the couch watching the six o’clock news while her mother Veronica cooked dinner. Ariel wasn’t the only child, she had an older brother Kendall who moved out three years ago. She took a deep breath and headed into the kitchen to tell Veronica first, maybe she would be the easiest to talk to.
“What’s for dinner?” Ariel asked, sitting down at the kitchen table. Veronica noticed her broken voice and looked at her, seeing her cheeks red and stained with tears.
“What’s wrong?”
Ariel swallowed hard and looked at her mother as tears built in her eyes, she took a deep breath and said.
“Mom, I’m pregnant.”
Veronica stared at Ariel with an expression she couldn’t read, she covered her mouth with her hand in shock as tears flooded Ariel’s cheek.
“Oh Ariel,” she said softly with sympathy. “who’s the father?”
“Remember that concert I went to two months ago, Black Veil Brides?”
Veronica nodded. “Yes I do.” she stuttered in response.
“The lead singer of that band.” Ariel told her as her voice broke even more, Veronica frowned and approached her daughter, hugging her and rubbing her back.
“Everything is going to be okay, I promise you that okay?”
“I don’t know what to do, mom.” Ariel cried, burying her face into her mother’s shoulder. Veronica stroked Ariel’s hair in sadness, she didn’t know what to tell Ariel since she got pregnant with Kendall when she was with Leon.
“We’ll figure it out honey.”
Leon had heard all the crying and decided to check on the girls and when he walked into the kitchen to see Ariel sobbing, he became suspicious but he figured it had something to do with a guy, and he might need his shotgun.
“What’s going on?”
Veronica looked at Leon with a look he didn’t get, Ariel pulled away and wiped her tears and looked at her father.
“I’m pregnant, dad..”
The expression on Leon’s face was anger, he wasn’t mad at Ariel, he was mad at the father. But seeing Ariel crying like that he knew it wasn’t just tears of guilt, it was a mixture of something. Guilt and something else, but Leon knew whatever it was, couldn’t be good. He was quite thankful she wasn’t sixteen, but he wasn’t really thankful she was nineteen and still hadn’t lived life.
