Chapter 1
Hissing, I slam my locker open and grits my teeth in annoyance before grabbing my books for the next class. I turn around, only to see the familiar features of the man causing my body to go slump as I let out a groan.
“You can finally see me?!” He grins happily and clapping his hands vigorously, his body jumping up-down cheerfully.
Stopping, I face him and looking through him yet my eyes connected with the man’s brown orbs of eyes causing him to gasped. I watch as he was about to attack me with his hugs but I turn around, locking the locker behind me before facing him again and walking to the side— avoiding his touch at all cause and not wanting him to be suspicious at all.
Ever since he felt that I could see him, he has bothered me day and night, never-failing to act close to me as if we’ve known each other for a while— even wrapping his arms around my waist and sniffing me on the neck that always send shivers down to my spine.
“I wish you could see me.” A pout forming on his lips as I see it from my peripheral vision as he continue to walk beside me.
Hearing a sigh from him, my heart drop at his next words. “It’s been 2 months since I’ve followed you yet you couldn’t even see me.”
No. It’s just only 1 month, 3 weeks, 2 days, 5 hours and 6 freaking minutes since this happened yet I don’t have any idea what was going on!
Raising an eyebrow, my steps stop making the man stop as well but his body was still feeble. “That black man sure has a way to trick me. He fooled me with his words.”
What? What did he say? My nose crunch in anticipation, hearing every words he spouts.
“He told me that if I follow you, I’ll be able to go with him up there soon.” He chuckle bitterly, followed by a snort.
Up there? The heaven?
Another chuckle escapes from the man’s lips as he grab my arms, not wanting to swing it so I wouldn’t notice.
He held several times, and attempted to touch me or even slap me before in order for me to look at him. But when I do, I pretended to shrug everything and remained emotionless.
Probably, he got tired of trying to let me notice him, and I was happy about it because he would barely touch me now except this time and for the night times where he would sleep beside me for comfort.
“Can you please see me?!” He shrieked, causing me to winced from the loud sound he created and grunts in annoyance as he tweets those sound effects.
“Please. Please. Pleas—” He chanted all over and over that would make my ear drums burst at any minute now. “Please—”
My head snap at his direction, eyes blood-shot as I stare at him with piercing cold gaze.
And finally, I burst out.
“Just what do you want?!” I yell at the top of my lungs— not caring about the people who can see me now— making the ghost stumbles on his butt to the ground, looking at me in surprise.
We stared for a while, my knuckles turn into white shade from clenching it too much, and he who just sat there frozen, jaw hanging low.
“Y-you—” He clear his throat, staring at me with bulging eyes.
Soon, his bewildered expression turns into a joyful grin as he stands up and interlock his hands together. “You can see me?”
I’m regretting this now.
I sigh heavily, looking around to see people stiffened in their position as they stared at me. I bit my lips in embarrassment before dashing out of the building and running off with the man following behind me.
“Why are you following me?!” I scream, turning around to face him with my eyes intensely glaring at him now.
The man halted his step, eyes immediately cower down and fidgeting his fingertips with him rubbing his foot together.
A habit of his.
Tugging his luscious lips between his teeth, he blubber. “Because you have something that belongs to me.”
I soften, posture straightening as I listen to his explanation, trying to control my breathing as well.
“The grim reaper led me to you two months ago at the hospital after your surgery. I couldn’t understand why but he explained that I cannot go with him yet knowing that I am basically incomplete.”
I look at him, puzzled. “What?”
“A person couldn’t go to heaven with missing part of their body— except those who are born with disability already.”
“And your point?” I snicker, raising my eyebrows as my arms cross.
He swallows thickly. “You have to go back with the body you were born.”
“And?” I snorts, listening at the nonsense explanation. “What does that have to do with me?”
“You are the key to my ascension.” He pull out his bottom lips again, looking at me with his puppy eyes. “I need your help.”
“You’re insane.” I inhale sharply, eyeing him from head to toe before pointing at him. “You’re not disabled or missing a body part. Just why are you still following me?!”
“Like what I said,” He says in a matter-of-a-fact tone, tilting his head to the side. “You have something in you that clearly belongs to me.”
“And that is?”
He replies, bluntly. “My heart.”
My eyebrows knits together, looking at him in amusement. “What about your heart?”
“You have my heart.” He restate, mirroring me with his arms crossing over his chest as well. “So can I have my heart back?”
“And what do I have to do to give you back your heart?” You mock, giggling at the joke the ghost just made. “Pull out my heart and give it to you?”
Ridiculou—
"Kill yourself.” He deadpans.
