Introduction
My mother had once told me that she could see the universe in my eyes. Life, death, creation, everything. I had just laughed and gone to bed.
My mother was a dreamer. She always dreamed that there were millions of places in the universe, places so different, but similar at the same time. I guess if she was the dreamer then I was the realist. I was planted with my feet in the ground. I was never going to leave this small village, and neither was she.
I was going to remain a florist and eventually take over my mother’s shop. I was going to get married probably, and then have kids. I knew I wasn’t going to go far in life.
My mother was convinced that I was destined for great things though, and part of me wanted to believe that too. Believe that I would get to travel to incredible places and meet incredible people, and fall in love with the perfect guy. But reality was cruel and fantasies would take me nowhere.
Nevertheless, I wasn’t going anywhere, and nothing extraordinary would ever happen to me.
Or so I thought.
