Prologue
January, 13 A.T
Dear Anjelica,
One day you will read this and you will question the world around you. I can promise you that there was a day when peace ruled the land. When kindness and love grew like rich corn in the harvest time. I remember every minute of that peaceful life. Playing with my brother, Jack, or swimming in the clear waters of the north pond. However, at this moment as I write this war is taking place. It has spread like a wild disease killing the corn. It was not fair that the moment you opened your eyes blood and fear were the first sights. It was not fair that King Obadiah sent out a decree stating all the men had to leave their families and fight. Your father had to go and that was the worst day of my life but you coming in brightened my heart up. If only he could see you; you are so perfect. I know that as you grow up you will become a beautiful young woman. I already see the flecks of gold on your head that blend with your green emerald eyes. Your father was a very handsome man and I am sure you carry his genes. You will grow up to be a kind and generous girl, I am sure. If only I could be there to see you become the woman I have always dreamed you would. The most unfair conclusion of the decree is that you have to be taken away from me. My papa keeps reminding me that life is not fair. Oh, how I wish it was. Although, in our Kingdom, the Top Class do have everything and it irritations me.
This letter must come to an end since I am needed. I love you dearly and pray that you make wise decisions. I plead that the All-Mighty Reaper has mercy on you.
With love from your mother,
Amara Boutin
Don’t worry, more is coming!!!!!! Stay tuned.
