Edwin Wolfert and the Kind-Of Ordinary Year

The head of the household, one Alfred Wolfert, an ex-Ravenclaw and Half-blood whose mother had hailed from a moderately prominent Pureblood family. His father, however, had been a Muggle-born, something he’d been taught to pay little attention to. Alfred held a position in the D.M.L.E, specifically the Animagus Registration Office, on the second level of the Ministry of Magic. Simply put, he registered Animagi. Alfred was very tall and lanky and white as chalk, with neatly combed honey-blond hair and pale blue eyes. He was not without a deadpan expression and gave off the impression of being constantly tired and sleep-deprived.

The matriarch, Carina Wolfert, was a Pureblood hailing from a family — the Fawleys — whose name (luckily) wasn’t associated with either Light or Dark. She was also of quick wit and (albeit slightly cunning) intelligence, her Hogwarts days also having been spent in Ravenclaw House. She was also quite tall and with a slight figure, pale alabaster skin, long strawberry-blonde hair, and silver eyes which were often narrowed in harsh — and quite condescending — judgment.

The Wolferts had two boys. The older one, Gilbert, a lanky pale-skinned boy who had neat blond hair like his father's and sky-blue eyes. He took after his mother in personality and was critical and impatient, but could be rather cheerful at times. The younger one, Edwin, was just as chalk-pale and stalk-thin as his father and light-haired, too, although his eyes were of a more silver-blue shade. He, contrary to his older brother, took after his father (though his father always compared Edwin to Alfred's own grandfather Frederick) and was patient, but reserved and apathetic. Gilbert had been sorted into Ravenclaw two years prior and Edwin, who was expected to receive his letter soon, was also expected to be sorted into Ravenclaw.

The house in which the Wolferts lived their quiet existence was quite large and quite old. The exterior walls where of white daub and the steps were made of stone. The roof was of burgundy wood shingle and the doors made of wood. The cozy interior was kept clean by Carney, the rather young Wolfert family House Elf. It wasn't as large as one would expect the home of a quasi-Pureblood family to be, but it was home.
