'She's got a family in Carolina
So far away, but she says I remind her of home'
So far away, but she says I remind her of home'
Jet lag is definitely not her best friend.
After flying from America to England, Hazel was left drooling in the back seat of a poor taxi driver in London.
Her comfy clothes keep her warm and swaddled as she naps away her stress on her way to her new life in London Town. The knitted jumper feeling heavenly against her smooth skin.
Startled awake by a bump in the road, Hazel sleepily peers out of the dusty window of the beaten cab and sees her new apartment block slowly coming into view.
Finally, she sighs.
Her worn shoulder carry her heavy bags out of the taxi's boot, the driver not bothering to lend a hand. People aren't as nice as they were in Raleigh, Hazel mumbles to herself. She suddenly feels her stomach tighten as she remembers her home town, capital of North Carolina.
She drags herself to the elevator, pressing the up button as firmly as she could with her jittery, small hands. After a while of standing there in the small lobby area, she realised that it has been far to long for the elevator to have made its way down by now.
Brushing her blonde curls out her face, the small girl takes a slow look around. She certainly wasn't going to ask anyone for help as she couldn't locate the stairs, her anxiety wasn't going to allow that.

Feeling defeated already after only an hour in her new city, Hazel sighs and shakily takes a seat on her white suitcase, up against the wall, crossing her tan, short legs. Taking out her phone from her bag, she phones her mother. For the 6th time just today.
The line rings for about 5 seconds until a smooth, graceful voice comes from the phone.
"Haze baby, we can't call every time you see a dog, honey. I know you're nervous but this is the life you've always wanted sugar, feel more happy!." As her mother's soothing voice comes out of the cell, Hazel's shoulders relax and she feels better immediately.
"I know mommy but it's a good reason this time, I promise! The elevator isn't working in my apartment building and I can't find the stairs." Hazel's built up emotions suddenly burst and she feels her bottom lip wobble and her eyes blur.
Hazel has always been very soft and fragile. As a nineteen year old, you'd think you would be more independent, especially as she's moving from the country by herself but that wasn't the case for little Haze. For some reason everyone was on their tip toes around her, not wanting to scare the skittish girl. Voices were more hushed, touches more gentle and bad things were shielded from her. Well, most bad things.
A throat clears and Hazel looks up, her eyes meeting green, looking down on her from their towering height.
"Hey, you look a bit lost, little dove."
