Snow

I hide the locked closet to protect myself from the man. I was shaking from head to toe, crying, while also preventing myself from making the smallest of sounds.

I look out a small hole on the door. I can see the man holding a gun in his hand, pointing it away my parents. I squeeze my stuffed animal artic wolf in my arms in terror of my family being killed and me.

I try thinking of the good things happening. As I look around the closet, I try seeing if there is anything useful. Coats, mom's and dad's shoes, a broken whatch, wait? Dad's shoe. Remember dad told me for emergencies, he hid a battery powered phone in one of his shoes.

I rapidly grab the phone and dial 911. It rings quietly, and I look out the hole to make sure the man hears it.

"Hello, police department, how may I help you?" the police man says.

I whisper quietly, "Hello, um, I'm Goodwill and, I live at Cavern Hail street, my house number is 399. Um, a man is, um, holding a gun and pointing it at my, " I pause after I hear one noise you never not know what it is. A double gun shot. I look through the hole terrified at what I might see.

"Goodwill? You still their? Goodwill, someone, hello?" She continues to talk as I look down at my stuffy, know knowing that, that, I'm an orphan.

I pause to look out the hole and the man just their stealing everything he can. I can start to hear sirens getting louder by the second. The man starts to race out the door. I begin to open the door and crawl out the door and drag my stuffy behind me. I head for the back door quietly and before I leave, I recall something.

Mom and Dad bought me a gift for my 18th birthday. I run quietly and quickly to their room because I knew where they hid it. I grab it and think about why they would buy it when I'm only 7.

I hear the door rapidly open down stairs. I rush to the back door and run through the skin breaking snow as fast as I can.

After a while, I walk extremely slow because of how cold it is. Collapsing to the ground. As I breath, no more of the fog that comes out when I breath out. As I try to keep my eyes open so I can prevent my death. I see something, it's a big animal sniffing me as I start to close my eyes.

My Second Chance

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

Cynical Optimist : You can never go wrong with a B. E. Harmel story. The plot is intriguing and the protagonists are mature and sensible.I was a little disappointed with the stylized writing. Loved, Loudly

Merrell Bunting: Well written, kind of quiet story, I enjoyed it. I am still a bit perplexed over whether this was a second chance mating story with choosing or completely a chosen mate story. If it is a chosen mate tale it leaves one a bit worried about a fated mate showing up. Either way it was a nice read.
