Rejection & It's Consequences

Kennedy POV

I knew from a young age that my family didn’t see me as a priority. My name is Kennedy Hardy but everyone calls me Edie. My parents are the Beta’s of our pack and have been since I was a baby when we came to this pack. I never noticed much I wasn’t noticed or loved in my family until I was about 10. Now normal werewolves, by the way did I forget to mention I am a werewolf, shift into their wolves about 13 or 14. Only wolves that are very strong shift early. This happened with our Alpha’s son Domenico, who is Alpha of the Black Star pack that this pack was split to make that second pack. This pack is the Black Heart Pack, the Alpha Giovanni split it in two for both his sons. As I was saying, I shifted into my wolf at age 10, my parents were more concerned with my older sister Jenny, was upset about a dress not being available for her dance the following week. I laid outside writhing in pain, the Luna Lara sensing a wolf in need, came and helped me through. The following day when my parents were told they brushed it off, noting I was walking around and OK so it wasn’t a big deal. From that day forward, I learned to place very little stock into what my parents said or did. I began to be near the Alpha’s family, for that little family element that all young she wolves need.

At the age 16 my parents decided that they wanted to travel, so since I had the beta gene and my older sister didn’t, I was given the post of Beta with my current Alpha Gianni (short for Giovanni). He taught me everything I needed to know, although since I got my wolf he has been training me to be the best warrior. I excelled, I ended up before becoming beta, taking over warrior training and protection strategies. Alpha Gianni and I are also working with his future alpha son, Ian who is a couple years older than me. Ian is the youngest son, well middle kind of. He is the Alpha and Luna’s last son, but they are raising their god son, an alpha pup from another pack, because his parents were killed in a rogue attack. Ian and I used to be close, as were Domenico and I before he left to manage his pack, but shortly after Ian hit puberty he started to notice pack sluts. Ever since then, he has been bouncing from slut to slut, I feel beyond sorry for his mate as he obviously hasn’t saved himself for her. Since then Ian has started to lose respect in the pack from older members as he flaunts himself, no discretion.

Unlike my former friend, I am looking forward to see who the moon goddess has in store for me, I have saved myself for my mate, and hopefully he has for me. But I have my work for now as well as the respect of the pack, something that is not easy for a female Beta to achieve. In all honesty, the Beta should be my sister Jenny, but she doesn’t have the gene, nor the discipline to train and lead warriors. All she does is gossip with the other sluts, making sure she has her make up just right, ten layers or so of it, nails done, hair properly bleached blonde to make her more beautiful. My sister, like Ian, hasn’t saved herself for her mate, and once again I feel sorry for him, because she is a power hungry she wolf. She won’t settle for anyone less than a Beta, preferably an Alpha. I hope the moon goddess has given her a patient mate, otherwise there will be much heartache.

This is my story….I hope it ends happily. But honestly how often does that happen for an underdog?
