Chapter 1

Mia

It feels like I’ve spent an eternity preparing for a night of passion I’ve fantasized about since I was a teenager. I was going to devote myself entirely to Brandon tonight, but being a perfectionist meant I’d spend the remainder of the day getting ready. As I exited the workplace, I had a few goodbyes from my outstanding boss/partner and coworkers, but it goes without saying that most of the male attention was on my ass departing the building.

I realized long ago that I was a captivating woman, and I’ve had others take the time out of their day to tell me why. My height makes me appear adorable and innocent; I’m only a bit over 5 feet tall, and my skin tone is a golden caramel. My eyes are large, bold, and brown, capable of drawing a man’s soul from his body, and these are not my words but rather those of another. My curves, I was a full-figured lady; how else can I explain it; I could go on and on about the comments I’ve heard, but I take pride in knowing they were all accurate. Not because I’m arrogant; it just took my adolescence to figure that out for myself and build myself up that way; I didn’t need anyone to tell me I was attractive; I just knew it.

Thinking about it made me blush; I was just pleased with myself. I dialed Megan’s number as soon as I got into my car.

“Hey, babe.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle at her. My friend has mostly stayed the same throughout the years.

“Are you going to say that every time I call, Megan?”

“Perhaps, but......”

I could tell she was going to say something when she paused for a moment, and I knew where she was about to go with this

“Sweetie, I’ve been waiting a long time to do this.

hearing her take a deep breath”I know I want you to be sure, he’s been unstable the last year, and I don’t want you tossing a way your virginity that you’ve hung on to for 26 years to a man who sends you confusing signals like that. Do you not recall conversations with me about him seeking for jobs and not finding one or going out late with the boys and not getting home until 4 a.m.? You haven’t caught him yet, but the indicators are there. I’m all for you finally letting go and being free, but do you know and believe that he’ll be loyal? Are you still in love with Marcuse after all of this drama and agony,? ”

I was huffing as I got into my driveway.

“I know I adore him, Megan. We are simply in a difficult situation, and doing so may open a new door and improve our lives. I know you’re trying to be a good friend, and I want you to always be honest with me, but I also need your help. I have had this chat with every one of our close friends, and they disagree, but they recognize I am a mature girl and can make decisions for myself”.

I grew concerned when the silence stretched on. I had to see if she had hung up. I calmed down after seeing on my screen that this heifer line was still connected and decided to play the waiting game instead of being overly demanding.

“OK, I only agree because you are my friend.”

As I exited my car and made my way to the front door of my house, a sense of relaxation rushed over me.

“I appreciate it, and I adore you.”

“Oh, hush, I’m pulling for you, not him. So, this is going to happen tonight. What is the strategy? ”

“Well, we have a date at his favorite restaurant tonight, and after, I’m just going to urge we go on a walk instead of heading straight home. There’s this gorgeous hotel about 10 minutes away from the restaurant, and on our lovely walk, I’ll simply say something theatrical like, “Take me, baby.”

On the other end of the telephone, I could hear laughter.

“Shut up! You’re going to seduce that man’s clothes off.”

I entered my room, opened my closet doors, and searched for my dress for tonight, a dress that had cost me a pretty penny.

I knew he’d like it and be ready to take it off before the end of the night.

“You know I’m kidding; I’ll be much smoother than that.”

“I know you have a dress, but what are you going to wear for that cherry-popping moment?”

I flushed and grinned at the same time.

“Nothing”

“Huh... ?”

I put my dress on the bed, entered my bathroom, and began running a bubble bath.

“Megan, I’m not wearing anything under that dress; I’m going commando.”

She then proceeded to yell into my ear.

“You filthy girl, how did this happen?”

“Well, I started thinking hard about what I wanted to wear, but when I brought that dress, the material was perfect for me to wear without anything. It’s tight, forms my body really well, it’s leather and red. I tell you that bad boy keeps everything in place, I don’t want to ruin the dress by adding anything under it.

When I saw my tub was nearly full, I shut off the flowing water.

“Damn bitch, you really thought about it; who knew little ass had it in you? You have lubricant, condoms, and birth control pills; we don’t have time for babies unless there’s a ring on that finger, as well as...”

“OK, Mom, I understand; I have all I need.”

“Just checking in to make sure you’re OK,” I chuckle.

“I know, boo, but I have to let you go because I need to begin the process.”

With that, we said our goodbyes, and I climbed into the hot water and washed every inch of my body, planning to make sure my body was in tip-top shape tonight. I had gone yesterday and had undesired hair removed from my body, followed by a massage to relax me.

I rested a bit longer in my bubble bath, but I needed it; this was about to change my life, and I felt it. I dried myself and lotioned myself with cocoa butter. Walking by my full-length mirror, I chose not to look at myself naked because I knew I would back out, despite knowing I was a good looking woman; this simply made me uneasy.

After two hours of messing with my hair, I was satisfied with it, so I began concentrating on my makeup, opting for some color for my lips, eyeliner, and eyeshadow, keeping it easy tonight. I slipped on my dress and a pair of nude heels, grabbed my clutch, and was out the door.

Since I didn’t trust myself enough to jump his bones on the spot, I suggested we meet at the restaurant instead. I texted him to let him know I was on my way, and by the time I arrived twenty minutes later, I saw that he had seen my text but not responded.

The waiter greeted me, “Hello, miss. Do you have a reservation?”

“Under Lovejoy, yes.”

He beamed, double-checked his list, and showed me to my table; however, Marcus had yet to arrive. I sat down, thinking, “Good, this will be the perfect chance to get myself psychologically in order.” I waited half an hour before texting him again, wondering where he was. Two minutes later, my message claimed he had read it, but there was no answer. Just as I started to lose hope, my phone started to ring, I picked it up with a quickness.

“MIA”

I sunk fully into my chair; it was just Megan.

“What’s up, Megan?”

“I need your presence at Suger.”

“You know I’m waiting for Marcuse, and this jerk is running...”

“This nigga has arrived, hugging a chick I’ve never seen before.”

It was almost as if everything around me had frozen, and all I could do was contemplate what I had just heard. Not my boyfriend, who had promised me that he would always love me and that if the waiting became too much for him, he would be honest with me.

“Megan, please repeat what you’ve just said.”

“Mia Marcuse has arrived...accompanied with someone else.”

“I’ll be there in an hour.”

Without speaking another word, I ended my call with Megan and left the restaurant, jumping into my car to drive home to do some quick cleaning and pick up a friend before going out to the club.

Conner:

It was nice to be back in Miami on a Friday night when the club was bustling with activity. I typically spend my nights in the relative seclusion of my offices or in Ireland, but today I longed to get out and feel the night air.

Though the club was blazing, I needed something more fascinating than being surrounded by numerous women concerned about how deep my pockets were. Sitting on the couch, I saw everything going on around me; bodies were dancing, intoxicated couples, and others were defiantly having sex on the dance floor.

But what really got my attention was a stunning woman storming through the doors, a look of wrath on her face, her eyes darting over the room in search of something or someone. When they settled on the bar and the girl waving her down, she made a beeline towards the bar.

Mia

After crying and almost hitting someone on the road out of fury, I made it to the club, where I met Sammy, the bodyguard and a dear friend. Sympathy was written all over his face as I tried to enter the club, but he stepped in front of me.

“Mia, honey, please swear to me that you will act appropriately at this club.”

“Sam, I know you think I’m insane.”

I only had to catch his eye for him to make me giggle, and thank God he did because I really needed to lighten the mood.

“OK, maybe there are certain things I’ve done in the past that would make you think this, but I’m good.

“Listen, I know you’re hurting, and if my future company partner wasn’t here tonight, I would have taken it upon myself to beat him in every inch of his life. Last week, you almost beat the brakes off a lady for looking at you funny.

I chuckled.

“Sammy, I got you, honey; I won’t do anything too crazy right now; would you let me in?”

He stepped to the side, and I overheard Sammy say something before I even entered the club.

“Tell Megan’s thick ass to stop playing and come get it.”

Sammy had been chasing Megan for about two years, and I could see her ass caving. The moment I stepped foot on the dance floor, anger filled me again, and I wanted to find Brandon and rip his dick off, but instead, I looked for Meagan. There were people everywhere, and it was difficult for me to find her, and for a moment, I was worried that I would see Brandon first.

I walked right into the moving bodies, squeezing between people, having my toes trodden on, and getting grabbed on by random men; I looked at the bar and saw Megan leaping up and down to get my attention; I pushed my way to people until my hands made touch with the bar; I looked up at Megan and got right to it.

“Please point him out to me.”

She instantly shook her head.

“No bitch, you need some liquor. First, I don’t want you to lose it in this bitch and disgrace me; we are classy hoe’s, “bartender.

I glanced up at her like she was crazy as she snapped her fingers and the bartender placed eight shots in front of us.

“I really hope you don’t think I’m drinking all these because all I want to do is find Brandon and end this terrible relationship.”

She snatched a drink from my grasp.

“Right now, I need you to calm down, drink all of these shots, and let it sink in before I point him out to you.”

I returned to the crowd for a bit, hoping to find him alone, but it quickly became suffocating.

“You’re not going to find him.”

I gave her the death stare “Mia, just drink it; you know I got you, but I need you to cool down.” I took the first shot and chugged it.

“Fuck it.”

Conner

I’ve never seen a lady take so many my shots in my life, and after her last one, I’m confident she’ll be out for the count in the next 15 to 20 minutes. I’m trying to figure out what person in his right mind would cheat on her. Maybe she’s crazy.

“Do you feel comfortable enough, Mia?”

She sat on one of the bar stools, her face in her palms.

“Let’s just get this over with, Megan; I’ve got a Glock strapped to my thigh and may or may not pull the trigger.”

My ears perked up since I didn’t need somebody shooting up my club.

“See this ridiculous things I’m talking about, Mia!”

“Listen, I just want to scare the crap out of him; I’ve got too much going on to spend the rest of my life in prison for murder.”

Nervously, her girlfriend kept staring towards one of my VIP Sections near the corner; there were maybe twenty people there, but I could pick out this one guy from a mile away.

It was probably a dumb idea, but I wanted to help this woman close that door to her past. I won’t lie and say it might just be me being greedy, but I wanted her for myself. I texted my Security team and asked them to remove the individuals from the section that didn’t know me but didn’t withdraw this guy and his companion. I urged them to be on their toes since a gun could go off.

“Mia, please...calm down. This is a club, and Sammy’s career is on the line. I bet he didn’t inspect your ass before you crossed the thresh hold”.

I can’t wait to put the pressure on Sammy to find out whatever I need to know about her.

“No, bitch, because he was distracted by the thoughts of your ass; I told you I’m not stupid; I won’t jeopardize his job.”

I left the bar and went to the VIP area, where I sat down on a couch near the man in question while Mia and her companion waited for security to intervene. Meanwhile, Mia’s eyes were burning a hole into the man, who was virtually dry-humping some female.

She sat at the end of my couch and made her presence known, but the guy never looked her way, but the presence from the rest of the men and VIP was held. She was patient, though, and she watched it all unfold. After about ten minutes of watching them dance, Brandon asked his woman friend if she was ready to leave.

“So this is how things work now, honey, or has this been going on for a while?”

Megan, Mia’s friend, was standing with her arms crossed, and if looks could kill, Brandon would be dead.

“What is she talking about, Brandon?”

Mia began to chuckle, but it wasn’t quite right; it was almost psychotic, which was bizarre; it got my dick eagered.

“Well, Brandon, what do I mean?” he stood transfixed. “Well, since he won’t tell you, I’ll tell you. The man you’ve been grinding on has been dating me for three years. Shit, it’s our anniversary today.”

She was smiling, but it was a strained smile, almost as if she was struggling to keep it together, and the young woman was horrified.

“Are you fucking kidding me? You’ve been playing me the whole time.”

She returned her attention to Mia and apologized.

Listen, I’m genuinely sorry; a year ago, he told me he was single, and I believed him. I assure you, I have nothing to do with whatever is happening.

Then she bolted out of there like her behind was on fire, and when I turned to look at Mia, she was clearly irate.

“A year.... a year, and you couldn’t just tell me. I’ve never degraded you as much as you have, and I’d like you to know that you’re a lying sack of shit and a coward.”

Brandon snapped out of his trances and flipped.

“Who the fuck do you think you are, Bitch?”

“Ummm”

Even though I didn’t intend to join in, I had to clear my throat because it really angered me that he would call her out her name when he was the one who messed up. Everyone turned to look at me, and Mia gave me her first real glance ever.

“Excuse me, but if I were you, I would be watching the next words you say.”

Brandon glanced at me before turning his attention back to Mia. This did not concern me because I was quite content to knock some sense into him if he continued to toe the line.

“Yeah, so what I should have told you, but if I played nice, you would have given it up to me eventually. So, during our final year of dating, I messed about in the sheets with someone else, Mia. I have needs too.′′

Her hands immediately began to hike up her dress, and her so-called boyfriend assumed the worst.

“You know, I believe it might be a little late for that lovely....”

Mia drew her weapon and cocked it; Brandon recoiled immediately onto the couch, but the rest of my friends in the VIP section didn’t seem to mind at all; I could see they were entertained more than anything.

You’d have to witness this for yourself to really appreciate the irony of a hot vixen wielding a gun and her victim being a cowardly piece of garbage running away from his own mistakes.

“You claimed you appreciated me and felt good that you had a lady who wanted to save herself for her wedding night. You built me up, made me feel special, and crap, I knew I shouldn’t have trusted you, primarily since you have played the role of being nonexistent in our home virtually every night. But I had to give your ass the benefit of the doubt.

She was swinging this pistol, and Brandon was moving in fear that it would go off, but I couldn’t get my head around the thought that she was still a virgin. She came to a halt and glanced at her friend.

“You tried to tell me shit, and all my pals tried to tell me, but I couldn’t help but be a sucker for love.”

Megan’s sad expression breaks my heart; Mia returns Brandon’s gaze.

“I’m trying to hold it together even while I speak to you because I’d be damned if I let you get the best of me. But I’ll tell you one thing. Not only did I bring this piece of steel with me, but I also took the time to remove every damn object you possess from my home, and by that I mean everything you brought with your own money is in the front yard. I reported all of my credit cards stolen, and I need my keys in my mailbox tomorrow morning, or I’ll report them stolen. I blame myself for imposing expectations on you, for better or worse. I stayed by your side even when I shouldn’t have. You are unemployed, carless, a total slacker, and selfish. I set myself up for failure by believing that being faithful to you and taking care of you when you were at your lowest point would be a significant hurdle we could look back on and say we could overcome anything. It’s over, and I hope that when you’re alone, you regret every decision you’ve made.”

Brandon stood up and began to move towards her. I’m curious to know where this dude gets his confidence because, looking at Mia, I wouldn’t even approach her. I questioned whether my eyes were deceiving me, but the way her trigger finger slid on and off the trigger indicated that she was not steady enough to approach and might pull the trigger.

“You can’t live without me even if you wanted to, don’t forget I’m the love of your life. How can anyone compare to the person who initially catches your heart? Stop acting silly and put the gun down.”

“I can’t live without you!” Are you sure it’s not the other way around, Nigga? Because I’m sure you’re the one who can’t live without me...fuck this... ”

Mia then shoots at Marcus after pointing the revolver at him. People on the dance floor began to run and shout. In a panic, I jerked up, hoping that I hadn’t made a mistake by allowing a pistol to slide into the club. Marcus was shaking like a leaf on the ground, which showed he was alive and well. When I turned to look at Mia, I noticed she was still pointing the rifle at him. Her eyes were glazed over, and she appeared lost in her own world. I stepped between her and her aim and went for the firearm. She snapped out of it the instant my hand made contact with the barrel, her grip tightened on the weapon, and her gaze shifted to mine.

“Listen, I know you’re unhappy and have every right to be, but if we don’t leave, you’ll be jailed.

She shook her head, attempting to see what was happening around her.

“Is he gone?

I spoke again, strengthening my grip on the barrel.

“No, but I’m afraid you’ll shoot him if I let you see him, so let me get you out of here.”

Sammy dashed up the stairs, remorse written all over his face.

“Sammy gets Megan out of here; I’ll get Mia out.”

He grabbed Megan, causing her to yell at him and tell him she wanted to stay with Mia; he lifted her up, slung her over his shoulders, and walked to the back door; I returned my attention to Mia.

“Listen, honey; I’m sorry for your predicament; it’s genuinely messed up, but if we don’t go, you’ll be in big trouble.”

I began to withdraw the revolver from her grip, and she paused briefly before handing it up, which I tucked into the back of my pants, while Brandon lay on the floor, curled up like a baby.

We literally rushed out of the building to my car, and I guided her into the passenger seat and closed the door.

I hopped in the driver’s seat, turned the key, and we sped off. I must have been entirely out of my mind to be helping someone flee a crime scene, and the worst part is that I don’t think I’ve ever been more sexually aroused.
