Prologue

S04 E03 Muted

"It's the night of prom and I'm running late. Great. This isn't going to end well with Grayson." I swallowed nervously, running a sweaty hand through my now-greasy locks. My dress dragged on the ground as I paced in the driveway of my best friend, Grayson's, house. My car wouldn't start; it'd been acting up all day and I thought it would last more than three hours. "C'mon, Gray. Pick up your damn phone." It rang three times before going to voicemail. 'Hello. You have reached Grayson Cho. Leave your name and I'll get back to you.'

"Grayson, it's Emmy. The car won't start and your parents aren't home, but then again, neither are you apparently. Please call me back. We have prom, or at least the re-do." I stuff the useless device in my boot and huff.

I had two options: call the mechanic and my parents or walking to the school. I chose door number three, entering the household and lighting it up. I hadn't been over for some time now and a lot had changed. The leather couch that was once pristine and scratch-free, now had rips and tears, the yellow stuffing hanging out.

I brushed my hands along the wall, feeling for the staircase light. I couldn't grasp it, and accidentally dipped my fingers into a sticky liquid. It felt strange between my limbs and I flicked on the kitchen light only to discover this wasn't that stage blood Grayson and I used to mess around with when we were younger. It was actual human blood.

I slipped on another small pool of the liquid, my head hitting the side of the counter. Fumbling for a grip on something, I grasped what felt like a stuffed animal or even a dog, and was horribly awakened emotionally the low growling.

From my three years of proper research, it wasn't a dog.

I shined my phone flashlight at the space in front of me, cowering back against the marble counters. My head throbbed and I clutched at it as my vision blurred. Before my limp legs stood a wolf with black and white markings. It clamped down on my right leg and shook it about, stopping when I gasped from the pain. Sensing my presence, it took off upstairs and I flailed around, failing to get a grip on reality as I lost consciousness and awoke to police sirens in the morning.

"She's alive. Hurry! Get her an IV, and lets check out that nasty bite before it gets infected."

"I've got it covered, doctor. Go look at the other bodies." The male replied."Welcome to your new life, dear."

~W~

The harsh light stung my eyes as I blinked them open. Machines beeped loudly beside me on both sides. I tried to cover my ears, but movement was very restricting at this moment. An IV was taped to my arm and a cast encircled my right ankle. There wasn't any excruciating pain, just a dull ache.

Someone sighs from the corner of my room. My head whips to the left, the sound piercing my eardrums. A man sat in the chair, white lab coat and all. Where was my family?

"Where am I? Who are you?" I scrambled around for something to use as a weapon, frantically sitting up. He looked like he'd been there awhile.

"Alan Deaton. You're at Beacon Hills Hospital." He coolly replied.

His voice was like thunder, booming loudly against my eardrums. My head throbbed with
