Chapter 1: The Start

Midoriya was tired of it all. Everyone always telling him that he would never be good enough that he was useless and worthless without a quirk. Of course, he always made it seem as if it didn’t bother him but at the end of the day it did, badly. He would go home and tell his mom lies about how his day was fine and that she shouldn’t worry so much about him. The biggest person who had an impact on him was Bakugo. Once upon a time when they were little Bakugo and Midoriya were friends. However as everyones but Midoriyas quirk developed Bakugo, the young boys only friend, started to talk down to him.

“Your useless without a quirk!” “Go away you stupid nerd.” “Your never going to be a hero, stupid Deku, you don’t even have a quirk.” “Your such a damn crybaby.” “I’m not your friend.”

It was the last one that really killed Midoriya on the inside. Especially since it wasn’t as if Midoriya had ever had many friends. So he ignored the comments and tried not to show too much pain when around the wolves. Ever since Midoriya was a small child he had wanted to be a hero like All Might. After it was obvious that he would not be developing any powers people always told him to give up on the dream. He didn’t. It was about five months before Midoriya had planned to take the exams that would see if he would get into the most prestigious hero high school there was UA. That afternoon class had just let out at the middle school and Bakugou had Midoriya cornered in the back of the classroom.

“How many times do I have to tell you damn nerd, I’M the only one who is getting into UA from this damn school.” Bakugo pushed Midoriya down. The smaller boy dropped his notebook that he had been clutching to his chest. Bakugou picked it up with a sneer. “What’s this?’

“N-nothing, give it back, K-kaccan.” Midoriya made a feeble attempt to try and grab it back. Bakugo just laughed and proceeded to open the book and look at what was written inside it.

“Seriously notes on pro heros? Why would you even think about such a thing, not like your going to be one idiot. Guess you wouldn’t mind if I trashed this then would you?” Not waiting for an answer Bakugo set the notebook on fire and tossed it out the window. Midoriya bit his lip to keep from crying out. Once the bullies left he went outside and found his book in the little pond behind the school. Midoriya slid down the side of the building and put his head on his knees. Everyone was right, who was he kidding. How can everyone be wrong about him not being able to be a hero. Pulling himself together the young boy made his way home. As he was crossing under the bridge that was a shortcut to his house he heard sounds behind him.

“Haven’t you brought me down enough for one day Kacchan?” Midoriya asked not bothering to turn around. Although he came to a stop when he didn’t hear a response. The next thing Midoriya knew a villain had him wrapped up, trying to choke and drown him. He must of lost concance because when he came to there was All Might standing in front of him.

“Wh- what happened?” Midoriya asked looking around.

“That sludge villain was trying to take your body, it was a good thing i got here when I did. Well I must get going.” All Might was about to fly when Midoriya got a crazy idea and jumped onto All Might. When they landed All Might was upset but Midoriya was determined to ask the symbol of peace the one question that had always been on his mind. “Even without a quirk can I become a hero?”

All Might looked defeated, it was his answer that finally shattered Midoriya. “No without a quirk all you will be is in the way and get hurt. Forget being a hero.” With that statement All Might left the building roof, leaving Midoriya there all alone and broken. It was hours later that he finally left the rooftop, as he made his way home he made a point to ignore the news and how All Might had once again saved the day. Hearing the news Midoriya decided that he despised All Might once and for all. Taking another turn into an alleyway the quirkless boy saw someone stepping out of a purple worp. Midoriya stood frozen confused as to what was about to happen. A boy no more than 17 a hand covering his face stood in front of him. At first the stranger didn’t notice him and Midoriya started to turn but then a voice stopped him in his tracks.

“What are you doing here?” The voice was raspy and when Midoriya turned back around he saw the guy with the hand and a guy in a suit with purple wisp where his head should be standing behind him.

“What does it matter to you?” Midoriya asked, suddenly feeling bold.

“A lot, why aren’t you at the square with everyone else celebrating All Mights victory?” The hand quy asked again.

“Why would I celebrate All Might? I hate the dude. Pretending to be this really good guy and always saving the day. In reality he is just an attention seeking jerk like the rest of these people.” It felt good for Midoriya to say this out loud, and the statement made the hand dude smile.

“Well then, why don’t you take a walk with us- what is your name?” The purple dude inquired.

“Izuku Midoriya, but people have also called me Deku before. Guess it’s whatever by this point.” Midoriya said as he followed the other two.

“Hmmm… Well Deku has a nice ring to it and by your reaction it needs a new meaning to you. So let’s get down to business. Why do you hate All Might?” Purple guy asked.

“A question of my own first. What do I call you two?” Deku pointed at them.

Hand guy spoke up. “Tomura Shigaraki, and warp is Kurogiri.”

“Alright. I hate All Might because he crushed my dreams of being a hero and made me realize that this society is screwed up. Those with less or no power are useless, those with dangerous quirks are already marked off as troublesome or are going to be villains not ever getting the chance to prove what they have to offer. It’s disgusting. It was all that bad before All Might came. Can’t believe that I once looked up to him.”

“Exactly. I am glad you see things our way.” Shigaraki said. It was then that Deku saw the place that they had been heading to. It was a run down abandoned looking hotel. Kurogiri activated his quirk. “After you.” Shigaraki said. Rolling his eyes Midoriya stepped through to his new life.
