My mom Janice shouted. "Russell what on earth are you doing!"
"Sorry can't talk got to run." I replied back, sliding into the kitchen. "Russell one of these days your going to fall." Just as she finished saying that I saw her red hair flow by me. And I fell onto my butt.
"Ugh, mom you jinxed it." I groaned, trying to get up and run at the same time. And I bet you can guess how well that went. Finally getting to my feet I threw my backpack onto my shoulders and ran out the front door. The school is about twenty minutes away and I have about thirteen minutes to get there. I ran as fast as my legs could go, finally gasping for breath I reached the classroom. Class had already begun, but the teacher was not in the room. I opened the door and stealthily sneaked over to my desk, everyone stared at me. Then the door shut scaring the living daylights out of me, I jumped then turned around to see the teacher glaring at me.
"Oh hello Mrs. Dawson." I said scared, with a sheepish smile.
"Glad you could join us Mr. Giles." She replied then smiled at me with the, oh your in so much trouble smile. She walked over to me and said.
"What does this make the thirteen time your tardy." She walked over to her desk and sat. I took my seat next to Savannah her long blond hair was tied up in a ponytail.
"Thanks for the laugh, you jumped so high." She whispered to me. "Mrs. Dawson really hates you, one more tardy and she could suspend you." I glared at her, then whispered.
"Har har hilarious." Zac Robertson was also chuckling at me. Zac is tall and has brown straight hair. I pulled out my fantasy novel and stuck my nose in it. Mrs. Dawson's voice droned off as I was sketching a wizard casting magic.
"Hey Russell, surprised your still reading fantasy novels." Savannah elbowed me trying to get my attention.
"What's so surprising about that. You know how much I love fantasy, and if I recall you used to be the same." I whispered back to her.
"Well people change. I thought by now, you would have grown up." She replied, I didn't respond and we didn't chat the rest of class. After class the three of us walked home together it was night and Savannah said.
"Why don't you set and alarm that way you won't be late." I stared at her rubbing my acing butt. "Why are you rubbing it. Oh let me guess you fell again." She said sarcastically.
"That should get you out of dreamland, eh Russell." Zac said.
"Watch it Robertson." I replied.
"Ooh, haven't heard that in a while. I'm in big trouble now." He said, then I grabbed him and ruffled his hair. "Hey watch the hair!" He shouted, as Savannah came over putting her arms around us and said.
"Break it up, you two." I stopped, then started laughing. They joined in. "You guys think magic is real?" I said.
"Really Russell still with the magic? Were not kids anymore." Zac replied. "Well see you tomorrow bright and late."
"Maybe Zach is right Russell, maybe you should grow up." Savannah added then, walked towards her house.
I walked home down the quiet street, thinking of what she and Zach had said. I suddenly realized my friends had grown up. and I was the only one who still hadn't. Then I saw a bright light illuminating from an alley. I walked towards where the light was, but when I got there it was gone. I was staring down an empty dark alley.
"I must be tired." I thought to myself sleepily. Then I heard a voice soft and deep coming from the darkness. If there's one thing scary movies taught me is to never go down the creepy dark alley. My senses must have been failing me because I walked right down the alley, and turned my phone flashlight on. I turned the corner and saw a man and a woman.
