Attention

Brylin

I'm standing in my loft apartment minding my own business when there is a knock on my door. I immediately get startled because I wasn't expecting anyone.
"Brylin, it's me, Nina." My best friend said through the door.
"For fuck's sake, you scared the shit out of me. Get in here, girl." I said, apathetically.
Nina enters the apartment and looks at me doubtfully.
"You must've forgotten the reason I was coming over again, didn't you?"
I immediately scratching my arm in embarrassment.
"That's right; we were supposed to go out tonight. What's the nightclub called again?"
I shifted my weight from side to side.
"Exotic Kiss Lounge. I've told you about this for weeks now."
Nina placed her hand on her forehead in frustration as I giggled.
"It's so hard to keep up with you, Nina."
Nina and I have been inseparable since we were in junior high. Now that we're in our twenties, the debauchery is even more intense.
"You're right about that. So what are you going to wear tonight? What's you're wearing now is hot, Doll!"
I was wearing a burgundy crop jacket, burgundy lace bralette, brown suede mini skirt, and black gladiator boots.
"I'll change into something else."
"Either way, you're going to look hot, love!"
I stepped out of the living room and went straight to my closet. I knew the exact outfit that I was going to wear tonight. My cobalt blue velvet crop top and skirt. I changed into my outfit and paired it with my blue cuff earrings and sapphire pendant necklace. I went to the living room to show Nina. Nina was smiling in admiration.
"Do you mind if I pick something out of your closet?"
"Go right ahead."
Nina ran to my bedroom and rummaged through my closet to find the perfect outfit to wear out tonight. When she returned, she ditched her red silk tank, black studded shorts, and red heels and traded it in for a white criss cross dress with white and black thigh high boots. She took out her iPhone as she took a selfie of us while I admired at her beauty.
"What do you think?"
"I think we're ready to take the world by storm!"
"Ready when you are!"
Nina and I left the loft apartment and went in her car to head to Exotic Kiss Lounge. As soon as we got to the rooftop, the nightclub was crowded with people.
"Bry, this club is amazing! I hope there are some good looking guys tonight!" Nina exclaimed.
Nina bit down on her finger as I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"You always just want to hook up." I said, sarcastically.
"I'll let that one slide, Bry. Let's just focus on having a great time tonight!"
I giggled.
"That's the plan, hun! It's been a while since we went out."
Nina and I started to dance like fools and giggling afterwards. Nina and I were having a great time in a positive atmosphere without a care. We knew exactly how to have a good time.
"This beats the hell out of staying in the house, right, Bry?" Nina called out.
"What?" I asked.
"I said, 'This beats the hell out of staying in the house, right?"
I chuckled.
"Hell yeah! I would've been having writer's block right now how you not came along."
"How's the writing going otherwise?"
"It's actually been pretty good. There are times that my mind is crowded with new ideas. I just can't seem to get them on paper yet."
"You're very talented, Bry! Give yourself some time and you will be able to write in no time!"
"Thanks, Nina. I really needed to hear that."
"So are you going to drink tonight?" Nina shrugged.
"I'd rather not drink tonight."
Nina placed her hand on her forehead in frustration.
"Come on, Bry. Live a little! Just one drink, please?"
"I don't want to drink tonight." I said in denial.
Nina rolled her eyes subtly at me.
"It's no fun when you're not drinking with me. You can be such a drag at times!"
Nina raises a glass of wine as I giggled.
"Well, I'm sorry. I just want to have fun sober."
"More for Nina then."
Nina and I continued dancing like fools and giggling afterwards. All of a sudden, a man walked towards Nina and I talking on the phone and we could hear his conversation.
"Yeah, I'm in the club right now trying to recruit new talent. Alright, I'll call you in the morning. Bye."
He hung up the phone angrily.
Kingston
"Always calling me about these bullshit artists!" I said to myself.
I ponder to myself for a second.
"Time to find another loser."
A beautiful, young woman with rich, caramel skin and violet eyes started to groove to the music as the DJ switched to the next song.
"Nina, this is my favorite song!"
She began to sing and I was mesmerized when that beautiful sound was coming from her beautiful mouth. I moved in between her and her friend as she sang to the music with her eyes closed.
"Bry, you and this DAMN song! I swear you listen to this song on repeat daily."
I scratched the back on my neck in adoration.
"You have a beautiful voice that matches a beautiful girl. The name's Kingston but they call me King." I said, flirtaciously.
She blushed at me.
"Thank you. I write my own music. My aspiration is to be a R&B singer. My best friend, Nina, will be my music manager."
"You must not have heard of me, Kingston Lockwood, Founder of King's Den Records?"
"No, I just met you like two minutes ago. Never seen or heard of you." She replied, angrily.
I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"You've got to be kidding me! Everyone has heard of me!" I retorted. "I'm a legend in this town, toots!"
My violet eyes were furious.
Brylin
This arrogant prick was getting on my last nerve but I'm a lady. I had to respond with sass but with some Southern Charm, if you will. I crossed my arms as my eyes pointed daggers at him.
"You know what? My friend and I were having a great time until you showed up! I've never heard of you before! You really don't have to be such a dick to me!"
"Bry, is he bothering you? We can leave to another area of the club if so." Nina said, angrily crossing her arms.
"This dick is too damn cocky for his own good! He's judging me for not knowing who he is!"
Kingston rolls his eyes sarcastically as I glare at him.
She's just now catching on?
"Who is he?"
"Someone that doesn't deserve another two words from me!"
Kingston rolls his eyes again. All of a sudden, I could feel a grasp of my inner arm. I was sober so I knew that it wasn't my mind playing mind games on me.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked, covering my mouth as my eyes widened.
"Don't ever touch me ever again just to get my attention!" I shouted.
