Prologue

The goddess hid herself in the shifting shadows, her gaze lingering on the human girl that would soon become hers. Her red eyes darkened, just a shade off from the likes of the girl.

The candle light flickered as she closed in. Another step, and she would be looming over the girl. Within those eyes, so red they could be called crimson, illuminates sullen remorse and guilt.

Though she had accidentally marked the girl as hers, the mortal remains beyond her reach. And for the suffering she had inadvertently inflicted upon the girl, nothing she could do would be suitable atonement.

As a goddess, perhaps she was the only one who would feel something like guilt...

Even as she was a goddess, as incomplete as she was, fate was not a domain of hers. Thus, even though she had caused the tragedy that had befallen the girl, she could not stop the one that would soon befall her.

And for that, perhaps all she could do was provide the girl the powers to untangle herself from her destiny...

And the rest would be up to herself...

Light so blinding shone as the goddess reached for the girl, the colours of red, purple and black dancing and struggling to coexist. The goddess brushed away a few golden locks resting upon the girl's forehead, her hand lingering for a moment as she whispered words of apology. Sparks sprung forth from the orb of light, and as the goddess pushed it into the girl through her forehead, an intricate crest appeared on the girl's head, before slowly fading from sight.

The girl now wore the symbol of Discordia.

And whether she knew it or not, her life as it is would cease to exist.
