"What a great set of poems-lyrical and beautiful short poems. A joy to read. I liked them all from the simple two liner about loneliness to the free verse of number 8. That is a poem to wake up to and recite! I read 'Shine for Us' many times out loud because I wanted to capture the rhythm of that lovely first and last verse. And I just couldn't get it. I wonder if you could use the form of a pantoum with "Shine for Us'? Just a suggestion- you are a good writer."

Too personal?
"Poems are straining on ones imagination and inspiration; invoking personal stories can become an occupational hazard. To be blunt, there should be an air of impersonality in most poetry for public consumption. For example, and correct me for an incorrect intrepetation; the poem involving the shepard was lost on me. I only partially understood after the final line, (paraphrased): 'Only things without memory' as illuding to the fact that death is the ablation of the soul and to be surrounded by such feral and unthinking things remind the reader of that fact. Other than that, I could derive little meaning from the rest of that poem. The presumed to be God figure guiding the flock and the readers perspective on him was bland and portrayed him as only caring-to a sharp point. Overall the first poem was the strongest in tone and form; those in between could do with more secular and less ethereal wording."

"I feel that the strongest poems was the first and last one. The first one was simple yet complex. The last one had a great ending. I really liked how you wrote that the sweater will always be yours. One thing I would have like to see more of was thought regarding the structure of each poem. I couldn’t see any meaning in the structure, but at the same time, there doesn’t need to be structure, unless you want to elevate the poem to a new level. Anyway, I liked your poems."
