Chapter 1
“Mom! Is it time?” I asked, while dressing up. “Almost Aliya,” mom replied. That’s good. I am so excited! Today I will get my spirit animal. Our town,Thunderville, honors the great beast, Stripes. He is a tiger. Leederville honors the great beast, Slides. He is an otter. Wattreville honors the great beast, Blizzard. He is a polar bear. Finally, Zapperville who honors the great beast, Felix. He is a hawk. There are only four great beasts. The rest that other towns honors are normal beasts. After I finished dressing up, mom came up and said, “It is time.” Now my excitement turned into nervousness. What if I call a rat? People will laugh at me. I pushed that thought out of my head and said as cheerful as I can, “Ok, lets go.” We arrived and I went to take a seat on the stage. The rest of the people came. One was my enemy, Dan. I was last because I was the shortest. Dan was first because he was the tallest. He went first. He sipped a little bit of the nectar and a horse came galloping over. He had summoned a horse! Now I am even more nervous. What if I don’t summon one? I pushed all bad thoughts out of my head and focused on the stage. Finally, it was my turn. I got up and took a sip. A second later I felt dizzy.
