The Sighting

The sight was horrendously dreamy but so realistic. Their bodies were ablaze, burning but the fire was not consuming a thing. Their eyes were lit like brimstone, smoke Bellowing from their hefty wings, they stood there at the edge of my feet, or whatever remained of them. Their feathers were dark, their upturned faces gruesome, hostile, horrid, and their beaks were clad in some kind of iron material, gleaming with copious crimson fluid that resembled blood. They were all motionless staring to the skies of an alien world I had never seen before, a brilliance of asterism lit up the expanse of the skies. They all moved their menacing heads calculatedly in near routine order. My legs were nothing but tattered flesh, uselessly Dangling about my body blood still squirting violently from a huge gash I could not place. The urge to scream was immense but what stood ahead had captured every inch of my attention. My eyes were ever so transfixed on the terror shown in their hateful stare and the inherent smell of sulfur and death. Everything around seemed to be oblique and eerily silent, I could only hear my punctured lungs hissing noisily with every intake of air and the sound of my heart beating against my struggling chest cavity, I was surrounded by writhing monstrosities that I could not describe. lying on alien grounds littered with moving body parts of unknown creations. I could only grasp little of what was happening. my reasoning seemed illogical given the moment, My memory was not functioning rightly given that my expertise required me to be sharp and to reason in any given circumstance. But what stood ahead was beyond alien, beyond all nightmarish thoughts I had ever encountered, I could only watch in despair and await as my demise was the only apparent thing in sight. With no apparent warning, one of the giant birds sprung into action moving in quick strides, its movements calculative, moving side to side all the while its glistening beak pointing at my mangled legs. I immediately tried shifting about using my arms but the pain was unbearable before I knew it the bird took a rapid violent stab at my butchered legs vehemently sending my body into convulsive shivers, as the shearing pain seemed to split my head into two for a minor second. My inner conscience screamed out but to my surprise, my mouth was shut. I tried screaming again but to no avail. All I could manage was a desperately depressing groan. in the corner of my eye amidst the pain and confusion, I saw the other bird approaching my Face, it came and stood over my face, staring me in the eye with mockery written all over its facial features it seemed to say” any last sights? before I bring down the curtains to your world” and then it struck.
