Our Destiny

Tonight I will be going out with emery and ofilia, Finally a night free from my mothers Demands. She's always going on about how a proper lady should behave and act. I'm sick of her uptight attitude, she believes she knows what I need. I am a grown woman and it's my 27th birthday, I'm already attending her big fancy party she planned in my and my brothers honor. If I could I would not show, specifically because I know Adrian will be there. Why is he always around? His presence is over bearing, why can't he get the hint that I do not want him around. His father Raphael Alfa Miller is my fathers business partner. Some how Adrian thinks that he can run circles around me whenever he pleases just because our fathers are business partners. He is like an Obsessed ex that won't give up except we never dated. just because we practically grew up together doesn't mean he has to go wherever I go. After a few minutes of silence and much needed solitude my mothers loud voice calls from down stairs. She calls my name Alena, louder than she has to of course. I roll my eyes and put my laptop down on my bed and head down stairs. Once I reach the last stair I can see my mother pointing to a big Bouquet of flowers on the center table by the entrance. She had on a big white smile and she hands me a small envelope. I open it reading, these aren't as beautiful or pleasing to the eye as you, but I hope you cherish them as much as I cherish you.

Of course they are from him. The flowers are beautiful of course but I pay them no mind after reading who they are from. I roll my eyes and hand the card back to my mother, her jaw drops and she begins to go on about how I don't appreciate the things Adrian does for me. I turn around and shot back at her with no mom you mean what he does for you because that's what this is about isn't it? It's about what they can do for the company right? She glares at me in disbelief then Puts her hand on her chest saying how rude I am. I decide to walk away from her and those flowers making my way to the kitchen. When I walk in I find trinity cooking dinner, trinity was my mine and my brother's nanny. She has always been like a mother to us. I walk over to her and hug her telling her that her cooking smells delicious. I steal a bite while she isn't paying attention but once the food hits my mouth she catches on and playfully smacks my hand. I grab an apple and giggling making my way out of the kitchen.

Ones I reach the living room I find my father Joseph and my twin brother Alan sitting on the couch, my dad is reading the newspaper and my brother is browsing through the the Channels on the tv. As soon as I sit down and bring the apple to my lips my brother takes it and taking a big bite of it says thanks. I roll my eyes and begin to watch as my brother changes channels once again. After a few minutes the doorbell rings and my mother makes her way to open the door which is weird because she always lets the house keepers open and that tells me she knows exactly who is at the door. I can hear my mother inviting whoever it is to come in and I can hear steps getting closer as I look up I see Adrian standing tall in a suit and perfectly combed hair. His black hair combines perfectly with his blue eyes that are staring right at me while he gives me a side smile. as I for some reason Stare at the handsome but annoying man, My mother walks in after him and she welcomes him to sit next to me. My father puts the newspaper down and shakes Adrian's hand before making his way upstairs. My brother moves to were my father was sitting while he nods at Adrian then goes back to changing channels. My mother sits In front of us with the biggest smile and Adrian leans in closer to me to whisper into my ear saying I can see you got my flowers, they are trash compared to you, Specially the way you look tonight. he slowly and gently puts his hand on mine but I slowly remove it from his gently grip. His face falls and becomes cold, my mother notices and butts in trying to "save" the day. She clears her throat and ask Adrian about the ceremony for when he takes over his dads side of the company. Adrian stares at me quietly for a second then turns his attention to my mother saying yes my father has planned a .....ceremony, I'm hoping Lena will join me as the guest of honer. I roll my eyes and try to excuse myself but my mother quickly stands asking where I'm going. Adrian looks up at me waiting for my answer, looking at my mother I say I am going out, and with that I head upstairs to get my purse.

Once outside i make my way to my car but before I can make it there Adrian is right behind me trying to catch up. Walking Faster I reach for my door just as Adrian stops me and asks where I am going. I roll my eyes As I say, out. He smirks then licks his lips, bringing his mouth close to mine he whispers I'll take you. stepping back and opening my car door I say no thank you, as renter my car and take off. I could see the irritation on his face but I could care less.

I make my way to emery's, I'll rather be anywhere else but my house where Adrian and my mother are right now. I know Adrian is always with my brother because that's an excuse to be around me. I pull up to emery's gate and dial her number on the keypad. The gates immediately open and I drive up the big driveway. Parking I make my way to her door, her maid opens the door before I even knock just like always. As I enter the house Emery comes running down the stairs wearing a big smile on her face with a beautiful wrapped box in her hands. She gives me a hug and hands me the box to me saying happy birthday Lena . I smile taking the box in my hands and she leads us up to her room. I make my way to sit by the window and stare out into the garden when she interrupts me by asking me to open her gift. Obeying I take the box in my hands and open the box revealing a beautiful pair of Pearl earrings.The earrings are beautiful emery thank you, I say as She smiles and moves to her mirror to comb her hair. while she combs her hair she begins to ask if I am excited for tonight. my eyes fall and I say yes of course, I can't wait to leave the party early that my mom is throwing for me and Alan though. She laughs and sets her hairbrush down on her vanity as she comes to sit next to me by the window. She pulls my hair to one side asking if Adrian will be there. I sigh then reply saying ugh yes, I don't want to talk about him. He is the last thing I want to think about right now seeing that i basically ran away from him then came here. She laughs asking if he knows we are going out tonight. I say I don't know but I bet he will find out, I mean he is up my brothers ass trying to get to me. I poe he doesnt show up. Emery laughs and saying well, speaking of Alan... I lift an eyebrow and ask what about my brother? She giggles and tells me to calm down Before continuing to say well, when will you hook it up? I shaking my head and say I am not getting into the conversation. I turn back to face her and say, you know he doesn't do relationships. She sighs and says I know... it's just since we fuc- she sees my face and then apologizes re starting her sentence with since we slept together I can't get him out of my head. I lift a hand to stop her from saying anymore. I continue saying, stop I don't want to hear how you and my twin brother had... had.. you know, THAT. I don't want you to get hurt marry, my brother is known for messing around with girls and I don't want my best friend to get caught up wit that. She laughs and says what? Did you mean Sex? By saying THAT? my face of disgust is clear as I walk to grab my purse and the box holding the earrings. I Turn to tell her and say I'll see you tonight, I love you!. She laughs and saying okay miss little uptight. Just because you're a Virgin prude doesn't mean we all are! Also I love your too! By the time she finishes her sentence I'm already down the stairs. I love my best friend, I really do but I will never sit there and talk about her and my brothers.... "intimate" moment.

After driving back to my house I look around for Adrian's car but I don't see it so I decide to park my car and head inside. Once inside the house the sight of "Servants" as my mother calls them. Are trying to get everything ready for the party. There are flowers and vases all over the place, it's a nightmare. My mother comes up to me asking where I have been. I look around then At her saying I was with emery. Sighing she turns to yell at a house keeper who placed a vase in the wrong place. Rolling my eyes and walking away I make my way up to my room and I run into Alan. He has his best clothes on and is wearing a lot of cologne. I pinch my nose asking where he is going, he smiles and brings his fingers to my chin smirking and saying out little sister! I gently slap his hand away from my chin saying you're older only by five minutes! When I finish my sentence he is already down the hall. I shake my head at him and make my way to my room. I put my stuff down on the bed and head for the shower. The shower helps with the stress and anger I have build up through out the day, which is nothing new. Living under the same roof as my mother and having Adrian around all the time, Finding him around every corner. he is everywhere and it's frustrating.

After taking a shower I head to my closet to grab the beautiful but over dramatic dress my mother insisted I buy for the birthday party That neither I or my brother want or asked for. I don't want to wear this damn dress but there is no point in arguing with my mother. After doing my make up and my hair I put on the long sparkling dress. It really is a beautiful dress it has a low back cut and it shines beautifully. My long brown hair is styled in waves that run down my back and I tuck my hair behind my right ear. My makeup compliments my light brown eyes. I decide not to put too much make up on, just mascara foundation and a little blush, I also added a natural color lipgloss. Taking one last look at myself in the mirror i head over to the door where my heels are waiting and After putting them on I grab the earrings emery gave me for my birthday and make my way out the door. Just as I am half way down the stairs Adrian is waiting looking at a woman passing by and sipping on his drink before turning around to meet my eyes. He chokes on his drink and blinks rapidly while stunt staring at me and gulps just as I am reaching the end of the stairs he extends his hand for me to take but I look At him and he seems to be in a trace while staring at me. rolling my eyes I walk past him. It takes him a few seconds before his eyes can stop fallowing me and he snap out of his trance. Moments later he is beside me saying I look beautiful. I grab a drink from the server walking by with platter full of champagne and I bring it to my lips while ignoring him. I continue to walk towards the entrance where the guest are arriving when my mother spots me and frowns but then see's Adrian and that's when she smiles. choose to ignore her and make my way to say hello to one of my fathers friends and his wife. They complement me and wish Alan and I a happy birthday then continue make their way to the reception area out in the back yard where my mom is busy talking to some of her guests.

I'm too distracted by guest and looking around the room that I forget Adrian was fallowing me around. Grabbing me by the elbow he turns me around to face him and puts his hands on my arms tying to look me in the eyes as I try to look away. He sighs in frustration and says he will do whatever it takes to have me, I will have you Lena no matter what I have to do you will be mine. I look at him with disgust as I pull my arms from him saying I'll never sleep with you! I turn around to leave but he catches me by my elbow spinning me around to face him again. looking into my eyes he says no, that will come later. I will make sure you become my wife. I frown and laugh but before I can protest he let's go of me and begins to Straighten his suit as he walks away until I can no longer see him. The way he said that to me spread a chill down my back, his words scared me. The look in his eyes was Determination and I believe him when he said he will do whatever it takes. Emery and ofilia run up to me breaking me from my worried thoughts. I blink and smile and ask them what took them so long. Emery smiles and Answers saying, well what can I say? I had to look the best for Your brother . I roll my eyes at her and smile before I realize I haven't seen my brother since I ran into him in the hallway. Just as I'm about to call him he enters the house making his way to me and hugging me saying Hello little sister. how's the party going for you? I playfully hit him on the chest and say, it's your party too you know which remind me, happy birthday brother. He gives me a side smile and lightly taps my nose saying, yes but I told mom I wanted nothing to do with this so.... really it's your party and..... happy birthday to you to little sister. I sigh knowing he is right and there is nothing I can do about it. Emery clears her throat finally getting the attention of my twin brother and he smiles at her as they exchange knowing looks. Putting his arm around her the begin to walk away. Ofilia giggles whispering oh my god Lena your brothers grey eyes are breath taking, and his dark brown hair... lets not even mention his- I cut her off saying eww ofilia! She giggles again and says just kidding, although you and your brother look alike a lot he got the gorgeous grey eyes. I begin to walk away and ofilia fallows begins me. As we're making our way through the room my father comes up to me with open arms saying wow Lena you look absolutely beautiful and then hugs me with one arm as he puts the other around my the back of my neck and kisses my forehead. I hug my father telling him I love him and he smiles saying happy birthday sweetie.

After hours of speaking to guest and eating, cutting a two over priced cakes, opening very expensive gifts that I don't need, I begin to excuse myself from some of the guests and head up stairs to change into more comfortable clothing before making my scape to party with emery and ofilia. After putting on My shoes I grab my purse and head down stairs as I quietly make my way out of the and head to meet Ofilia and Emery just outside the gate. Ones I enter the Passenger seat of emery's car, I close the door and emery takes off. After a few minutes on the road I ask emery where we are going? She smiles looking back at Ofilia then at me saying it's a surprise. Emery has already changed into a black short club dress with silver heels. Ofilia is wearing a silver short dress that is too tight to her body and black heels. After a few minutes more on the road emery stops the car and asks ofilia to pass the bag in the back next to her. Ofilia quickly hands emery the and emery then sits the bag on my lap saying put that on. I open the bag taking a blue sparkling dress with thin straps a low chest cut and black heels out As well as hoop earrings. I look down at my outfit and ask wrong with my outfit? They laugh both and emery says Lena you're wearing a simple black dress with black flats. Rolling my eyes I say so... emery sighs closes her eyes and says please just wear that. I groan saying fine! I change into what emery brought for me and she starts the car taking off.

After a while we enter a parking lot, parking on the first spot Available. Ofilia and emery lead me to a club that seems like just opened not too long ago. Ofilia walks up to the bouncer and whispers something in his ear before the bouncer opens the line letting us in. Once inside ofilia leads us to a VIP table and orders drinks over the loud music. A while later I have lost count on how many drinks ofilia and emery have had. Emery tries to make me drink another margarita but after drinking one I really don't want another. Emery's eyes light up and she signals with her hand for someone to come to us. I fallow her amazed gaze and find Alan and I just know Adrian has to be right behind him. I try to looking past my brother and of course I find Adrian as he puts his phone in his suit pocket and something in me sparks making blot out of the VIP area before he or anyone else can see me. Once outside I begin to walk but I don't really know where Im going but the last thing I want is to be near Adrian after the way he Expressed himself back at the party. I continue to walk down the street and while Im about to cross a street I crash into someone making me fall and landing on my knees then my bottom. The man Immediately bends down to help me up saying I'm so sorry oh my god are you okay?! Please Let me help you. I look around and spot Adrian outside the bar,s entrance Looking around. I immediately get off my ass and look up to see the man I ran into. His green eyes are full of sympathy and embarrassment. His light brown hair almost hidden by his hoodie but I can see his light curls poking out, he is tall from what I can see. I look back towards Adrian and he seems to be looking through the people at the entrance outside the club and I know he is looking for me. I immediately grab the man that I ran into and hide with him behind a wall. I peek out to see Adrian and I watch him pull out his phone and bring it to his ear. Seconds later my phone vibrates and I see his name pop up on my screen I bring my finger to my mouth saying sing signaling for the man to be quiet. For some reason the first thing I say to the man is I'll pay you if you'll give me a ride in... Whatever it is you're driving. He looks confused by my offer but manages to say I don't need your money but The least I could do is give you a ride. I peek back at Adrian just as he makes his way back into the club. I sigh in Relieve, the man peeks out to look towards the club then puts his hand out saying I'm Alexander but you can call me Alex and I'm so sorry I ran into you. I'm so sorry I wasn't Looking because- I cut him off shaking his hand saying it's fine, it happens. Plus I think I ran into you, I say with a half smile. I'm alena but you can call me Lena. now can we go please. He blinks and says oh! Yes of course. We walk towards the parking lot where the valet greets him and they exchange I few friendly words then he continues to lead me to a truck that I assume is his and without thinking about it twice I climb in the truck. few seconds after taking off he asks where to? I take a few seconds before responding then say anywhere except here please. My desperate attempt to get away from Adrian over takes my worry over trusting a stranger. After a while we stop infront of a hole in the wall restaurant that is right across from the water. Its not full but there are people sitting at some of the tables. Alexander looks back at me saying come on in, they won't bite. I look at him then back at the restaurant then back at him. I decide to make my way up the short stairs to fallow him into the restaurant.

Once we enter a short woman with sweet eyes comes up to Alexander and puts her hands on both his cheeks saying his name in an Italian accent, then Begins to say something to him in Italian. Alexander brings his hands up to hers that are holding his face saying mamá. the woman seems to notice me for the first time and then looks back at alexander with a big smile on her face asking who might this be? . Her Italian accent very present and before Alexander can say a word the woman looks at my scraped knee and her smile fades as she moves closer to me asking what happened? I nervously smile not knowing how to answer. Alexander answers for me saying, I wasnt looking and- the woman cuts him off by putting her hand up and without looking at him Sending alex to go look for the first aid kit and. He Disappears into the kitchen and the woman looks at me with sweet eyes Saying excuse my son he is 28 and Im beginning to think not matter how old he gets he will never mature, she giggles. Although I never imagined him running pretty ladies to the ground with that old bike of his. Not knowing what to else to say I quickly say we bumped into each other, no bike Was involved. I wasn't paying attention at what was infront of me and nods smiling. Alexander makes his way back with a first aid kit and an awkward smile on his face. Just as he reaches us a beautiful woman with the same eyes as Alex comes to speak to Alex's mother but stops as soon as she see's me then turns to alexander saying something in Italian but alexander answers in English saying this is alena I smile and correct him saying it's lena. The girl infront of me smiles and says I'm Margaret, I'm Alexander's sister, well Alex's sister. I nod with a small smile as Alex asks me to fallow him to the back room.

Once there he points to a chair saying sit here. I slowly sit and he bends down to sets the first aid kit on the table and opens it to remove an antiseptic towel to clean the scrapes on my knee. After cleaning them he puts some sort of antibacterial cream. I look down at the scrapes and I can see the cream he put on my knee is clear. I look back to him and smile, our eyes meet and I can't help but stare into his eyes. After a few seconds of not being able to move my eyes from his, my phone vibrates loudly. I check my phone and see it's Alan, I look up at Alex and give him a small smile saying I need to answer this, He nods and says of course and stands to leave me alone in the room so I can take my call in private. Once I answer my brothers panicked voice comes through the phone saying alena! Where are you? We looked everywhere. You just Disappeared. I sigh and say, Alan please calm down. I'm okay, I just saw Adrian and I didn't want to be around him, I didn't know you were coming and I sure didn't know he was coming. Alan sighs and asks, where are you Lena? I'm coming to get you. I sigh saying I'll tell you but do not bring him Alan. I mean it. He promises he won't and I give him the address, before hanging up he says I'm on my way.

I make my way back out to the restaurant area and find Alex talking to his mother, I walk up to them saying, well.. thank you for everything. My brother is on his way to pick me up. Alexander's mother holds her hand out to me saying well, Lena it was really nice to meet you even though my dumb son here almost killed you because he can't seem to look where he is going. I giggle and shake her hand saying I'm sorry I didn't get your name? She smiles and says it's Athena. I smile and let go of her hand saying thank you Athena. Smiling she turns to leave saying well I gotta get back in the kitchen, this restaurant is not gonna run its self. I let out a small laugh and Athena Disappears into the kitchen. I turn to alex saying thank you, don't beat yourself up about what happened I wasn't looking either. He tries to say something but before he can I spot my brothers car pulling up and I excuse myself saying well, my ride is here. Thank you again for.... this. I point at my knees then look up to smile at him. He nods putting his hands in the front pockets of his jeans and I walk out of the restaurant to meet my brother.

Once I reach the car Adrian gets out of the drivers seat and I groan saying you have got to be kidding me! Adrian smirks and puts his hand on the open car door saying get in. cross my arms saying no, where is my brother?! I practically yell at him and he smiles saying his with emery, now get in the car. I look out into the road then Back at him and he says don't even think about it. Get in lena. I roll my eyes and say fine, but you're taking me home. He nods walking over to thePassengers door to open it for me but I walk past him and open the back Passenger door and climb in the car closing the door behind me. He closes the front passenger door he was holding open for me and rolls his eyes walking around and getting into the drivers seat. The ride is quiet and his eyes keep looking into the Rearview mirror to find mine but I don't pay him any attention.

After 20 minutes we arrive at my house and before he can exit the car to open the door for me I climb out of the car and begin to walk fast towards my door but Adrian catches up quickly and gently pulls on my arm turning me around to face him. He is about to say something but then notices my scraped knees and immediately let's go of my arm and with a protective tone he asks what happened to you? I can't help but feel scared of the way his voice changes when he gets upset or possessive. I look around trying to avoid his eyes but he grabs on to my arms and brings me closer to him saying alena if someone hurt you you need to speak up! His voice becomes a bit louder and desperate as I try to pull from his grip but he is stronger, a lot stronger than me. I finally look at him saying it's nothing. I tripped when I left the club and that's it, I just tripped okay. He slowly let's go of my arms and seems to relax before saying is that so. What where you doing at that piece of shit restaurant anyway? How did you get there? I give him a death stare and saying I do not have to explain myself to you! I turn around heading towards my door again but he steps infront of me saying, that's where you're wrong. I step back trying to analyze his face but he is giving nothing away except a cold expression. I finally break out of his grip and begin to walk away but before I reach my door I turn around and ask him what do you want from me! Why are you always fallowing me! Why are you always here! I don't want you around me Adrian, Go away!! He makes his way to me so fast that I don't notice until his face is inches from mine and he grabs my arms firmly looking into my eyes and says Alena you are mine get that through your little fucking precious head! I can fallow you wherever You go and do to you whatever I please! I give him a disgust look saying you do not own me! You can't just claim me! I try to pull myself away from him but he lifts me onto his shoulder before I can react. I begin to kick and hit him with my fists yelling at him to put me down! He smirks and walks into my house closing the door behind us.

As soon as be enters the house caring me on his shoulder my mother stands up form the living room and makes her way to us wearing her bed gown saying Adrian what is going on?! Put her down! She the. Turns her attention to me with the phone in her hand saying alena where have you been?! How can you do this to me, you Humiliated me by leaving the party the way you did! Adrian what is going she asks again. Adrian smiles and finally puts me down infront of my mother. I turn back around and slap Adrian across his face and make my way past my gasping mother and up the stairs to my room. Once in my room I lock the door, I am fuming. How dare he treat me like this! How dare he talk to me the way he talks to me. I'm not an object that he can just claim! I hate him!.

After a few moments there is knock at my door and I yell out asking who it is, my mother's voice answer back saying its me lena please open the door. I walk closer to the door and ask her if Adrian is still here she answers saying no he has gone. I put my forehead on my door and sigh before opening the door to find my mother standing alone looking at me with a confused face. Leaving the door open I signal for her to enter. She comes in and closes the door behind her. as I sit on my bed my mother walks up infront of me saying Alena why must you always Insist In behaving like this. I bring my hands to my head moving my hair out of my face then I taking in a deep breath. My mother kneels down and tries to touch me but I sit up saying, you know he keeps saying I'm his. You know he keeps saying he will stop at nothing until I'm with him! Why mother? Why does he sound so sure? My mother looks away from me and answers without looking back at me. honey he just likes you that's all. You should try to give him a chance.. he really cares for you. I bring my hand to my face and groan saying mom stop. See what I mean! You guys are always pushing for me to give him a Chance! even Alan, he doesn't say it but I know deep down he wants me to be with Adrian. The only one who seems to care about what I want is my father! My mom gets off of her knees and sits next to me on the bed saying honey- I cut her off asking where is Alan. She looks confused by my question and says I thought he was with you. I get off the bed and stand by the window looking out into the front of the house and without looking back at my mother I reply he was.

My phone rings and I move quickly to check who it is and of course it would be Adrian. I ignore the call but he calls again immediately and my mom convinces me to answer. When I finally do I snap at him saying what do you want! His voice is fast and heavy and I begin to worry as soon as he says Alan's name. I immediately ask what's wrong and it takes him a few seconds before he can say something has happened lena. My heart falls and I drop to my knees crying.
