Chapter 1
It’s 6 am, the bright blue clear sky with the birds are chirping the bells ringing the rays of the sun shining its way through my window. I wake up in the morning, with my hair all over the place, and I look around and decide whether I want to get up or not. I take my iPhone 7 that’s on the white small table between my bed and my big rectangular window, I scroll through my Instagram feed. Once I get up from my pink bed and fix my bed putting the fluffy blanket with hearts on them and my fluffy pillows with heart. I go into my walk-in closet, and look around at the side where my pinks are my blues, white colors and my casual school clothes I pick out an outfit and changed into them, I’ll be wearing high waisted pastel pink pants with a white crop top and, for the shoes, I am wearing my white booties, afterwords I sat on my vanity and look into my makeup organizer and decide on which look I want to go for and put on my makeup, I chose for a more natural look with a hint of pink rosy lipstick and lipgloss next I open the drawer with all my hair styling products and decide to use the curly iron on my hair. Later, I add some finishing touches with some heart-shaped earrings and matching necklaces and earrings, I look in the mirror that is between my door and my walking closet and throw myself a kiss in the mirror and even take a cute selfie before going down the staircase right when I walk out my room. I go downstairs, head to the left which is where the open floor kitchen is and eat my breakfast on the island in the middle of the kitchen that Angela has left me before she went out and, I called my best friends, Sam and Jessica, to meet up at the school parking lot.
Aidan’s POV:
I got up in the morning, with a bedhead, I get up from my messy bed and walk to the bathroom that’s right next to my room, and I fix my hair with my hairbrush and it looks soft and fluffy I ran my hand through my hair before I walked right back to my room and walk into my closet and pick out an outfit, I decided to put on my v-neck t-shirt, navy blue jeans, and black sneakers, and finally my leather jacket. I wanted to wear a beanie but not today my hair looks good already. I walked downstairs and went to the right where my kitchen is and make some breakfast before I walked out of my house and went to where my friends are waiting for me.
“Hey guys, did you hear about those rumors about Jasmine wanting to have some revenge on Adeline over something so incredibly stupid,” Justin says while he smirks as if he is trying to accomplish something.
Sam replies “If it’s about the same rumors then yeah I know, all over a boy and I want to know about which guys because Adeline has been rejecting every single guy that is headed her way while Jasmine is doing the opposite and saying yes to every single guy and people are making a poll about which guy Adeline would say yes to and no one comes even close.”
Justin: ” She hates Adeline but no one but them knows why, but I have a feeling it has to do with a certain guy. I just hope it’s about me. I mean Adeline is hotter then Jasmine and maybe that’s why she feels so insecure, Jasmine tries to look hot, Adeline couldn’t even be bothered” He looks at me and knows what I am going to say to him.
Aidan:” Now why would two hot girls want to fight about you, and since when You guys are into gossip. And it’s true Adeline is way hotter then Jasmine everybody knows it but because Jasmine scares people I don’t even know how”
Justin:“A guy can dream you know, Joking, but I can’t help but hear what people say, it’s very entertaining, Sam you’re finally off the phone and what are you staring at?”
Sam: “Adeline coming out of her house looking smoking hot, you think she goes for me?”
Aidan:” Nope, and she’s off-limits”
Justin: “Why? Oh look she smiled at us. Wave, don’t be rude.”
Aidan: “She is gorgeous and because you know I have a crush on her.”
Sam: “Oh come on man, you’ve been in love with her since forever and instead of telling her you date every other girl, and mess with jasmine and, girls talk so I am pretty sure she wants nothing to do with a guy that changes girls faster than they can say the second date.”
Aidan: ” That’s why she probably will reject me and want nothing to do with me. Also, she’s different from every other girl, I don’t know how but I feel it, it’s like whenever we have small talks or we run into each other I have these intense feelings towards her..”
Justin and Sam: “We think some is in loooove, hahaha, Aidan got a case of love.”
We have a laugh and get in my car, a basic Convertible, I wave at her before I drive off.
Adeline’s POV:
While I walked to my car, a Jeep, I saw Aidan and his friends, and I was looking at him. I gave him a smile, and he waved before he goes. I get in my car and drive to school. First, before I go to school, Dunkin Donuts is the place I go to get a cup of coffee. I make it to school which is 20 minutes away and see my friends are waiting for me. When we met up we went into the school door which is huge and headed towards our lockers. We all have lockers right next to each other and next to the big wide cafeteria. We get to our first-period class Spanish class on the second floor. I go up the stairs and see Aidan and Jasmine. It seems to look like another break-up, but I go into my class before he sees me.
Adeline:“Buenos dias, Señora Sanchez, Como estas?”
Ms.Sanchez: “Buenos dias Ade, muy bien, gracias”
I walk toward my seat by the window in the back corner, as I always do. While we copy down some notes, Jessica walks in late and looks at me with a smiley face.
Adeline: “What happened, where were you?”
Jessica:” Umm, well remember Justin the guy I have a crush on since forever?”
Jessica has a crush on Justin, Aidan’s best friend but it is always hard to believe since Justin had a girl for 2 years now and stayed away from him, to respect his boundaries.
Adeline: “yeah, what happened?”
Jessica: “well he is now single”
Adeline: “what how you know that”
Jessica: “Well I was scrolling on my Facebook page and saw he changed his relationship status stating: single and I bumped into him outside he was also with Aidan but he and I were talking and he said he wanted to talk”
Jessica is going through happiness because she finally has a chance to talk with him and see if they hit it off. As the class finished I walked out and headed to my second class, Art on the third floor. I always sit on the chairs by the window. It’s my little space where I think and get inspired when I paint. As soon as the class finished I wasn’t really paying any attention, I was just thinking about having a feeling that my parents are still out there, they were killed in a storm but how they weren’t on the boat they were under the water, maybe there was a storm while they were fighting with someone and that someone took them and make everybody believe that they were dead, who knows my mind is wild it’s probably wanting my parents here with me.
Once the 3rd class begins, which is a writing class I get to my seat in the back corner next to the window like in every other class. I see Aidan enters the room 10 minutes later and he has decided to sit in the seat in front of me with a smiley face. The girls in the class looked at me all envious and one girl whispered thinking I can’t hear her say to the other girl” why does he sit with her and not me like she is just going to reject him?” with an envious face. Once he sat down he says
Aidan: “Hey beautiful, how are you?” he said while pushing a strand of my hair back making me blush.
Adeline: “Thank you and, I’ve been busy, how about you?” I said as I giggled a little bit.
Aidan: “Nothing really just be home, with the guys.”
Adeline: “So what are you up to today?”
Aidan: “I don’t know, I want to go for a walk and escape reality for a couple of hours.”
Adeline: “Are you okay?”
Aidan: “Jasmine won’t leave me alone, it’s like in her head we are dating, which we are not, I’ve broken up with her 2 months ago, people think we mess around which it’s not true.”
Adeline: “Is that why you guys were arguing this morning?”
Aidan: ” How did you know? Are you following me, I wouldn’t mind but you know.”
Adeline” Hehe, no, I saw you guys this morning before heading into my class”
Aidan: “Ah, and yeah she won’t leave me alone, I have eyes for someone else, and she wants to know who but if she finds out who is it, she will have a heart attack”
Adeline: “Would you tell me who is it?”
Aidan: “Well I can give you a small hint, and that’s too many because it’s easy to figure out.”
Adeline: “Oh okay, give me the hint than”
Aidan: “She is a beautiful blonde with beautiful blue eyes and lives just 2 feet from me, and she drives me crazy with her beauty.” He says that while staring at me with those beautiful ocean blue eyes. Making me blush.
Adeline: ” Are you talking about...”
Aidan: “Shhh, how about you tell me that after you come to my party tonight.” He left as soon as he said that and left me blushing knowing he was talking about me.
**the bell rang**
I get out of class, I’m heading downstairs towards the cafeteria. I go in the line to get my lunch some crazy kids doing some weird jumping I guess they are excited about something and then some guy behind me trying to ask me out and I reject him and apologize letting him know why in the nicest way possible, I look at the food and notice that they are serving pizza, and I go sit with my friends.
As soon as I sat down, I heard an annoying squeaky voice coming from the entrance of the cafe. Jasmine, the popular girl, in school, just because she is rich and every guy wants her and she actually says yes to every guy, with her two wannabes Lizzie and Maya which are so clueless. Jasmine always finds a way to ruin my mood. We used to be friends, when I started kindergarten, she introduced herself to me and we became really good friends, we went to each other houses a lot, slept in each other houses and have always been in the same schools since elementary school, she started hating me on the 7th grade, we were in the lunchroom and we were telling each other about the guy we like and when we decided to say who do we like at the same time which was Aidan, and what made her even angry is because I live next to him, therefore, she is very insecure about the situation. Whenever her minions see me talking or having any conversation with Aidan she gets mad and she always throws it in my face that she is his girlfriend, which is not true, he messes with her, and on and off, and now they are officially over but she still think they are together, she forgets I live next to the boy and sees him bring different girls, which is why as much as I like him I stay away I am not trying to get hurt, but I can’t help it because he is gorgeous.
Jasmine:” Hey Adeline” with a smirk on her face.
Samantha: “what do you want?“.
Jasmine:” I just wanted to have a mini convo with Adeline, alone, if you don’t mind.” Giving me the death stare.
I nod to my friend letting them know it’s fine, and we walk to the hallway in front of the cafeteria doors, where there is nobody since everybody is in there.
Jasmine: “I heard Aidan talked to you today, and I understand that you guys are neighbors but that’s it you cannot be friends with MY BOYFRIEND!!”
Adeline: “First of all, why is it any of your business who I am friends with, second of all, get off me and stop being a jealous freak who obviously have low self-esteem because you hate me, and last leave me alone so I can eat because I am starving since I already can’t get the last 5 minutes of my life back, or did you forget he lives right next to me, and he told me who he likes and honey it’s not you, that’s the dumped you, and when you were together he honestly didn’t care at all about you”
Jasmine: ” I hate you”
She walked away pissed and I headed back to the cafeteria and sat at our table that is in the middle of the cafeteria. Samantha and Jessica were asking me what was this all about and I told her the usual while rolling my eyes.
Once we finish eating our lunch, we go to our last class of the day on the first floor. They go to their own classes Samantha goes to History, Jessica goes to Biology, and I go to Chemistry. I entered the room I sit next to my lab partner Alex, he is a very shy guy with brown eyes, brown hair, and he is pretty cute but only cares about science. A lot of girls tried to ask him out, he either chocks up or he rejects them saying that right now he only cares about becoming a scientist, and honestly who doesn’t love a guy who is dedicated and focuses.
Alex: “Hi Adeline, how are you today?”
Adeline:” I am good today, thank you, how are you?”
Alex: “I am good, I have entered the robot competition and if I win I will be able to go to mar.”
Adeline: “Alex that’s huge congrats, just say hi to the aliens for me”
Alex: “Actually when we go to mars, we will be the aliens because they live there we don’t”
Adeline: “Awesome”
As we talk Ms.Lopez is here letting us know that Mr. Rodriguez isn’t here anymore.
Ms.Lopez:” okay class Mr.Rodriguez isn’t here anymore, therefore, I will be your substitute teacher until they find a new replacement, he didn’t leave any work so just talk to your friends in a normal voice, and behave.”
Everybody goes to their friends, while I just grab my phone from my pink and blue ombre bag.
Aidan’s POV:
My friends and I came from lunch and entered the classroom and sat at the table in front of us.
Justin: “Hey, it looks like our teacher isn’t here.”
Sam: “Hey, did you hear about the twins that transferred in the school, they are smoking hot”
Justin: “Have you seen them yet?”
Sam: “No, I heard that she was hot”
Aidan: ” What if they aren’t hot and you make a fool out of yourself?”
Justin: “He has a point, Samuel.”
Sam: “And didn’t I tell you only my parents can call me that.”
Aidan: “You guys are idiots Haha.”
Sam: “Hey look who’s there, can you believe guys are after her and she hasn’t once accepted, it’s like she doesn’t want to date guys, there are even rumors that she might be a lesbian.”
Aidan: “That’s stupid, just because she hasn’t said yes to guys it doesn’t mean that she probably waiting for her knight and shiny armor, but it keeps me calm because I know she will say yes to me.”
Sam: “What makes you any different from those guys she rejected. It’s like she likes someone and nobody has figured it out, she doesn’t want to go out with no one. But the only ones that haven’t asked her are us and Alex. He doesn’t even look like he is going to try anytime soon.”
Aidan: “Well maybe she will say yes to me. In our class this morning before lunch I told her I have eyes for someone, and she was curious.”
Justin: “Now you’re the idiot, why would you tell her that, she probably thinks you like someone else.”
Aidan: “Not really I gave her a hint describing her, I made her blush real quick, I think she got the hint, she was going to ask but I told her, that I’ll tell her tonight at a party at my house”
Sam: ” Well, not bad, so party at your house then?”
Aidan: “Let’s go, PARTY AT MY HOUSE!!!”
Everybody cheered before I left.
Adeline’s POV:
Aidan left the classroom after yelling out he is having a party at his house everybody else cheered. He lives on his own since his parents died in a car crash while they were coming home from a family member that lives in Albany, it crushes him, and ever since not even his aunt Lucy doesn’t want to take custody of him, he puts up a wall of the bad boy because it affected him hard. Since then he has always had parties every Friday night. I go sometimes to his parties because even if I don’t go, I won’t be able to watch Tv. Angela lets me go because it helps me fit. After school, we meet up and plan to go to the mall and find an outfit for the party.
Samantha: “Hey you guys want to go shopping before the party?”
Jessica: ” Sure let’s go”
They get into their cars and I go to mine.
Adeline: “I might go later, I have to go do something, but I will meet you guys there”
Jessica: Alright Hon, well see you there.”
After they left, I leave the school parking lot I drive to my house, and enjoy the trees along the way, as soon as I go to my house, I walk to the backyard to the pool and I dive in, my legs turning in my tail, I swim underwater and enjoy quality time with my tail, even though it is not as big as the ocean it still feels good to have my tailback. I swam around in my pool. From outside of the pool, I hear Angela come home.
Angela: “I’m home,” she says while she is walking to the backyard.
Adeline: “Hey Angela what’s up.”
Angela: “I just came by to say I have a date tonight,” she says happily, ever since I met her she been single and always complaining that she wants someone to be romantic with her, therefore I encouraged her to go out and look for a date, and I also gave her the idea to do online dating until she finds someone she can be happy with.
Adeline: “really that is amazing, who is he, do you know how old he is, how he looks like.”
Angela:” Yeah, his name is Ryan, he is a businessman, he has black hair, he is tan, and brown eyes, so what are you doing tonight”
Adeline:” He sounds great, I might go to Aidan’s party tonight”
Angela:” okay cool, so how is that going, does he know you drool when you think about him?” she asks laughing.
I throw water at her knowing the answer to that.
Angela: “Shoot! I forgot I don’t have anything to wear tonight, I’ll be back, last-minute shopping.”
She leaves, and I get out so I can dry up with a towel I have put on the chair next to the pool, I walk to my car and drive to the mall that’s 30 minutes away, and I do some shopping before I go meet up with them when we are together and we go shopping we last hours and that is because we always dress up as if we are going to a fashion runway and be extra. As soon as I am done with the shopping, I walk to the third floor and see what kind of food I want and when I see Starbucks I go in and order a French Vanilla latte with sugar and foam and a caesar salad with french dressing. I texted the girls.
Adeline: “Hey guys where are you? I’m in Starbucks.”
Jessica: “I’m in Sephora. Let’s meet up at Starbucks.”
Samantha: “I’m in Chipotle, but sure Starbucks it is.”
Whenever we are done shopping and we have a couple of outfits picked out and all put together we always show each other the clothes and approve each other clothes, and honestly, we always do this every Friday after school with or without parties.
Samantha: “Well I bought this cute jumpsuit and a black crop top matched with black boots.”
She puts her clothes back inside the bags and next I take out my bags as Jessica and I applaud and Sam bows laughing.
Adeline: Well I bought this cute pastel pink crop top and a white high waisted skirt matched with pastel pink heels.
Jessica and Samantha applaud as well
Last but not least
Jessica: A black leather pants with a blue sparkly top matched with a black leather jacket and with black boots, we are going to look awesome for the party.
We all applaud each other as we laugh and go to my house so we can change. I live next to Aidan’s house, therefore the girls come to my house so we can change, after we get dressed we do hair. We go into my walk-in closet and get dressed, and then we have our hair all fixed, Sam is going with her curled short hair, and Jessica is going with a half updo and I am going with curled hair. It is 7 pm and the sun is still up. We walk to Aidan’s house and it is already packed. The girls and I are dancing. And we were singing and dancing. Seeing Jasmine making out with the captain of the football team of course. I look around as I noticed Aidan looking at my direction and starts heading towards me.
Aidan:” Hey, glad you’re here,” he says with a smile on his face
Adeline: “of course always”
Aidan:” you look beautiful by the way”
Adeline: Why thank you.
Aidan: “you want to dance”
Adeline: “You forgot to tell me about that girl you have an eye on.” I say with a smile.
Aidan: ” Well, She is in the room.”
Adeline: “Is she, what is she wearing.”
Aidan: “She is wearing a pink crop top and a white skirt” I pretended to look around.
Adeline: “Hmm, I can’t seem to find her.”
Aidan: “Well why don’t we get you a mirror so you can find her”
As we go on the dance floor and have fun.
Jasmine notices we are getting too close and she comes our way and purposely throws juice on me.
Adeline: “What the hell is wrong with you?
Jasmine: “Oops, my bad didn’t see you there.”
Aidan: “Why do you always, have to do the most?”
Adeline: “It’s fine I’m just going home, call it a night.”
Aidan: “Adeline wait”
Adeline: “I had super fun but as always Jasmine is in the way of that, but I have to go”
I leave running in my house slamming the door and my tail appeared. I left rushing I didn’t even tell my friends I left.
I decided to stay home and watch Netflix. I was mad that I was having fun and Jasmine ruined the moment. Next thing you know I hear a knock on my door.
Opening the door Jessica and Samantha walked into my house with a confused face.
Jessica: “We heard what happened and came rushing, are you okay, want me to punch her?”
Adeline: ” no, it’s fine she is not worth it?”
Samantha: ” Girl I don’t know how you put up with her, I would have been giving her a black eye by now” as we were laughing and having a good time. I am thinking about how they don’t know about me being a mermaid, even though they are my best friends I really want to tell them I trust them. I never told anyone this and Angela told me don’t tell anybody you don’t know who you can trust but I feel like I can trust them, I feel like I’m ready to tell them.
Samantha:” what are you thinking about?”
Adeline: ” You guys want to know a top-secret that no one but Angela knows?”
Samantha: “come on Adeline, we are best friends, you can tell us anything”
They look at me with a sad face, on how they must feel about me not trusting them with this secret. I will tell them I have to, they are my best friends. I’m telling them everything.
