Sleep by the fire now with a pillow for your head

I’ll let you fall, deep down again, into a land

of diamonds and clubs. Look through the glass. No city’s

to find over hill tops and woods. The white rabbit

knows his way, so follow him around in this playground

of ebony and jade. The trumpet plays in frantic calls

Hurry or you’ll be late! For tea party’s and croquet

and lizards with ladders who were promised fame for

their chivalrous valor. Take a step and see what you’ll find.

An ocean you cried of your torment and pain. Go along

to a forest of forgotten lost toys, but be careful

of those two little boys who are exactly the same.

And of that pink little cat perched high up above.

His wicked dark smile fills you with fear. Down the road,

you’ll meet the hatter and hare. Join them for tea

and ask ‘why is a raven like a writing desk?’

In the maze her highness asks you to play but don’t try to win,

or its “Off with you Head!” Lost in this “Country of Hearts”

when will you wake? The story’s not over. Don’t try to stir.
