Resilient
A knock on the front door sounds you awake. Groaning into your pillow you curse under your breath. Who the hell could be at your door this late? Dabi’s plane didn’t land until late morning. An intruder? No a intruder wouldn’t knock. Stumbling out of bed and slipping on your silk robe you headed down stairs. Whoever was behind that door was about to get an earful...of a whispered voice of course since you were still half dead asleep.
You unlocked the door and reluctantly opened it. With a gasp you clasped your hand over your mouth and immediately slammed it shut. What was he doing here!? Fuck, it might as well have been an intruder you would’ve preferred it. Standing on your tiptoes and looking down through the peephole your breathe caught. There he was. His dirty blond misbehaved hair that said he had just gotten thoroughly handled. His chiseled jaw and stubbled chin hadn’t changed either. Keigo tamaki in all his drunken glory stared at the peephole with his piercing red eyes.
Dabi’s voice rang through your ears. If anything should happen while I’m gone just give me or shigraki a call.
Shigraki wasn’t even a liable option. If anything, it would make things worse. Closing your eyes you mustered up some courage. The last time you had talked to him was over 6 months ago. You were with Dabi now and there was nothing Keigo could do or say to change that. Taking a deep breathe you opend the door. As soon as Keigo laid eyes on you his face broke into a smile.
“You should probably check the peephole before you open the door...”
“What are you doing here?” I say leaning on the doorway.
“Like the bedhead. I wanted to see you one last time before I leave.” He says shoving his hands into his jean pockets.
You comb a hand through your hair. “Going where?”
“Did Dabi not tell you?” He said smiling as if he had the upper hand.
You shake your head.
“Maybe we can discuss this over coffee or a non-alcoholic drink? Come on I don’t bite.”
That was debatable. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
He rolled his eyes. “Come on just a quick in and out. It wont take long, you wouldn’t leave me here in a drunken daze would you?”
Now you were at a battle of will’s with yourself. The day he broke your heart was over 6 months ago and it was also the day you swore him off for good. But here he was unexpectedly claiming that he would be leaving. And for what?
“Fifteen minutes.”
He holds up his hands in a surrounding pose. A triumphant smile overtaking his face. “That’s more than enough time for me.”
You lead him to your apartment where he made himself at home in the kitchen, rummaging through cabinets. “Got any wine?”
You glared at him from the living room. “That still classifies as alcohol you jackass. You really haven’t changed....now what did you want to tell me.”
With his eyebrows raised,Keigo closed the refrigerator door shut and leaned on the counter. “Have I struck a nerve?”
“12 minutes.”
“In a rush are we? Ill take a Carmel macchiato extra foam.”
You gritted your teeth and felt your nails dig into your forearms as you crossed them. “Make your own damn coffee.”
“Ok then. Give me 2 minutes.”
