Prologue
I keep reliving that moment. The cracking sound of the glass windows breaking. The painful collision of the airbags to my body and the feeling of glass along my body. The air leaving my lungs, making it hard to breathe. The worst moment was when I felt my fianceè hand leave mine. I slowly climbed out, never thinking to check on her first, just trying to get out. To get the help I guess.
It’s my fault that I never checked whether her buckle came off, or not. It’s my fault. I should have checked on her. It’s my fault that her father passed away from a heart attack when he heard the news. It’s my fault that I lived. I should have gone with her. Was she alive when I left her in that car or was she gone? I will never know. If she was alive then I left her to burn when the car exploded and for that, I shall never forgive myself. People say that is wasn’t my fault, and that I was too traumatized to think. I LEFT HER. I ABANDONED HER. NOT ANYONE ELSE. I LEFT HER TO DIE.
What this experience taught me, was one thing and one thing only. If I ever loved again, I would just bring misery to that person. So, Welcome to the Life of William Louw. A person that has decided to never love again.
