Prologue
Fighting against the odds after a shift in fate when I turned eighteen. Nothing but a wolf lost to the shadows, but after his torture, I learned just what shadows are to me.
"I control my shadows!" I whispered.
He tried to break me, steal my soul, and control my powers. My mother raised me as a stubborn wolf, and I will forever remember her teachings. Even as I gaze upon my last moments, I feel my mother's sweet words as I watch myself grow up. At least, even if ice climbs around my body and slowly freezes my core. I know he never could have broken me, no one ever will.
Until my time comes again.
"I love you, my sweet family," I whisper.
