Evangeline’s POV

I just celebrated my eighteenth birthday yesterday and I also graduated high school today, so Trisha invited me to a party behind her house in the woods. She is a werewolf and I am a normal human. We have been best friends since we were thirteen years old.

Evangeline: I don’t know Trisha, my parents won’t allow me to go to some party let alone in the woods behind your house.

Trisha: Oh come on live a little. My parents will be there it’s safe.

Evangeline: So your parents are allowing you to throw a party behind their house?

Trisha: Well yeah, it’s their party, so are you coming over, or Are you going to stay a goodie two shoes forever?

I hesitate a bit only because I don’t feel comfortable hanging around her pack. I know everyone will be drinking, and they all accept me and all-cause I’m a harmless human, but the guys look at me like a piece of meat and the girls look like they want to rip my head off. I always keep to myself anyway. They don’t mess with me because I’m Trisha’s friend and her dad is the Alpha of the pack.

Trisha: Come on you just turned eighteen yesterday, and we just graduated high school. We are only going to celebrate the beginning of our adulthood I’m pretty sure your parents would understand.

Evangeline: Fine! But there better be no alcohol

Trisha: I did say that it’s my parents that’s hosting this party right?

Evangeline: Yeah, ok who’s going to be there?

Trisha: Just my some of my pack members and another Alpha my dads inviting

Evangeline: Uhm that’s doesn’t sound small, and another Alpha seriously. I’m barely comfortable being around your pack and they know I’m human and accept me, but

A wolf or wolves from another pack I’m not so sure.

Trisha: It’s small compared to the usual. The Alpha that’s coming is not coming with his pack just Beta and Gamma, so it’s just three more wolves.

Evangeline: I don’t know I’m getting a good feeling about this

Trisha: How many parties did I have that I’ve brought you to and nothing’s happened?

Evangeline: Ugg fine you’re right

Trisha: I know now let’s go get ready

After a few hours we are dressed and ready to go. I’m not wearing any makeup just my normal lip balm and a knee-length white halter top dress with a blue floral design and tan wedge shoes. While Trisha is wearing a very short little black dress with a plunged neckline and black strappy heels.

Evangeline: How is this?

Trisha: Cute, how about me?

Evangeline: (laughing) you look available

Trisha: (laughing) good that’s the point

Just my luck my mom catches us before we leave.

Mrs. Lupin: Ahem where do you think you girls are going?

Evangeline: OH hey mom, Trisha’s parents are throwing a party.

Trisha: Yeah, to celebrate graduating high school and Evangeline’s birthday that just passed.

I hug my mom before I leave

Evangeline: I love you, daddy!!

Mr. Lupin: (laughing) I love you too pumpkin stay safe ladies.

We both reply in unison

Evangeline: Yes Sir!

Trisha: Yes Sir!

Trisha and I head out in her car to her packhouse. We arrive after a short while later.

When we make it to the back yard I notice how beautifully the trees are decorated with fairy

lights and each of the tables is set with candlelit lanterns on them.

Evangeline: Wow everything looks beautifully decorated.

Trisha: Yeah my pack went all out I see

Trisha’s POV

How do I tell Eva that this party is actually for the Alpha King to find his Mate and not our graduation slash birthday party for her? The only reason I invited her was not only because she is my friend, but because a couple of summers ago we went swimming in the lake and I noticed the birthmark on her rib cage, and not just any birthmark The Crescent Moon Mark. There are many stories of an ancient Lycan descendant born with the mark of the moon. I know her last name is Lupin which means wolf, so maybe it’s her. I’m not sure she did turn eighteen, but both her parents are human just like her.

Evangeline: ok so do all pack and non-pack members agree to me being here?

Trisha: Yeah, they don’t care you’re harmless.

Evangeline: (nervous) Uhm ok cool

Trisha: Hey relax have some punch the pretty boy to the left is checking you out go say hi.

Evangeline: Uhm no thanks

Trisha: You know you can’t keep your V-card forever

Evangeline: Says you cause you gave yours up freshmen year. I prefer to wait for him.

Trisha: Who’s him?

Evangeline: You know, the one.

Trisha: Anywho if you do decide to lose you V-card us wolves can’t get humans pregnant unless your already a wolf or are turned

Evangeline: Uhm wasn’t planning on any of that, but thanks I think?

Trisha: (smirk) Here drink some punch relax we won’t bite.

Evangeline drinks the punch unaware it’s been spiked and goes for more.

Evangeline: Wow this is good.

Trisha: Yeah, Uhm, don’t drink it so fast ok it’s kind of spiked.

Evangeline: What? You said there was not going to be any alcohol.

Trisha: Uhm I lied (laughing) We’re werewolves, Eva we drink plus I need you to relax and meet the rest of my pack and our Alpha King

Evangeline: Alpha King? Seriously since when do you have a king of wolves?

Trisha: (laughing) he’s King of all Alphas from the Midwest to the east coast

Evangeline: Uhm ok???

Trisha: Ok he is my dad’s boss and all the other Alphas and wolves from the Midwest to the East coast answer to him or else (slides finger across throat)

Evangeline: (eyes widened) Oh ok

Trisha introduces Evangeline to the other members of her pack including the Alpha Kings Beta but not the Alpha King. Evangeline continues to talk with everyone and has another drink she realizes its 11:30 pm and that she should get home.

Evangeline: Hey Trisha I’m heading home I have to be back by midnight.

Trisha: Hey I thought you were spending the night?

Evangeline: Yeah but I think it’s just better if I go on home.

Trisha: Oh do you need a ride home?

Evangeline: Yes, if you don’t mind? if you can’t I can just call a cab.
