Emmett and Amelia entered Briarlight. It seemed empty.

“Emmett!” Emmett turned and saw his mother and his sister, Norie, running towards them. He almost fell backwards as they both tackled him with bear-hugs. Joseph followed them out of his house.

“Emmett! Amelia! What happened?” He asked.

“We left the army.” Amelia quickly explained what she and Emmett had done in the mountains.

Joseph simply sighed. “I’m just happy you’re both home safe. Amelia, the Blackfire residents have gone back to their own territory. Your home has been rebuilt.”

Amy’s eyes lit up. “Really?”

Dread filled Emmett. “Are you going back home, then?”

“Of course.” She looked up at him, her eyes apologetic. “Blackfire’s my home, even though Briarlight is okay. Will you come back with me?”

Emmett looked at his family. He nodded. “Mom, that’s okay, right?”

“It’s fine.”

“Then let’s go.”

Blackfire looked the same as Briarlight, except the atmosphere. The atmosphere was more...proud. Whereas Briarlight felt more homey and warm, Briarlight felt strong and proud.

“I’m staying with Andrew,” Amy said, stopping in front of a grey house. “I’ll write to you, okay?”

“Okay.” She fished a pen out of her pack and took his hand, scribbling an address onto his hand. Andrew’s address. She finished, and gave him a quick hug. He squeezed her tightly, feeling her warmth and inhaling her scent before she let go. He loosened his grip around as and watched as she opened the door and went inside the house.
