Let me start before the beginning. My eighth grade year of middle school- the year before my freshman year of high school. That was when I met Abby. She was sweet and lovable, and she was really helpful when it came to my depression. She helped me quite a bit.
We became best friends a few months before the school year ended. I think we met around Mid-February. We became basically inseparable. She helped me and talked to me when I was sad. I told her everything. About my family. My birth father. Everything.
She was my whole world for a few months. We started dating in June. Now this wasn’t your typical “Hey wanna date?“.
You see, I had made a friend named Mabel. She told me she had feelings for me in a really.... indirect way. She simply asked “Can I call you baby?” And we were officially unofficially dating.
Abby was jealous. And she had every right to be. People had led her on in the past and broken her. Like I would eventually come to do.
Abby was going to leave. And I mean leave. I would never get to talk to her again. Which happened anyways once we broke up, but that’s not the big idea at this point in the story. Mabel broke up with me, so that Abby and I could be in a relationship. I saw myself making a future, a life, with her. But something changed when I was on my annual vacation to Vermont.
Her ex came back into the picture. He started contacting her again, wanting to know if she still wanted to be with him. I found it hard. I had problem focusing on her. I was struggling to fully dedicate myself to the relationship.
Then I entered freshman year of high school.
Then I met Markus.
The only way I can think to describe it is lifechanging. Which it was. I’m not sure when it started, but I began to fall for Mark. I kept trying to mess with his hair, which he never let anyone touch.
I know, such a childish thing right? I was thirteen then. It was a long time ago. His hair was long and curly.
I don’t mean your basic slightly wavy hair. It was full-blown spirals. And it was natural.
My first interaction with him was... less than satisfactory. If I could go back I would definitely change how I first spoke to him. But that’s a story for later.
After I had realized I had fallen for Mark, I knew what I needed to do.
I broke up with Abby.
It hurt more than she will allow me to make claim to. It genuinely hurt, though many claim that I was insensitive and didn’t really care about her.
I loved her. She was my best friend and whole world.
It saddens me knowing that she hates me now.
It was October 29th,2019 when I broke up with her. Many of you may think it was too soon after, but I confessed to Mark two days after- on Halloween.
This is my story
Our story.
From the beginning.
