natalie and her twin brother, henry were sitting on the couch scrolling on their laptops for a job— well natalie was playing a game, a horror game to be exact.
natalie was wearing a sleeveless grey v-neck vest with a white shirt underneath that was tucked into her high waisted mom jeans with a belt, along with high top black converse, with her brown hair half up into ponytails and two strands of her hair not tied in the front and was framing her face.
“hey, did you guys see what captain man did yesterday!” their best friend, said from the kitchen. jasper has curly hair brown hair. he’s a loving a giving person which makes him gullible. jasper was a bit... odd. he collects buckets, he calls himself a bucketeer. natalie doesn’t even know if that’s a real thing but she goes along with it.
charlotte rolled her eyes from her spot on the floor. she was a pretty girl in natalie’s opinion. charlotte, or char as natalie likes calls her, has dark, shoulder-length curly hair. she often paired her tops with skirts or denim jackets. she was a smart but sassy girl. “can we focus on algebra?” she asked impatiently.
“there’s was a fire at the pet store, and captain man ran inside right through the flames and saved all the animals. he didn’t even get hurt.” the curly head boy informed them.
natalie never knew how he never got hurt in the most dangerous situations. she thought it was cool nonetheless.
“captain man never gets hurt.” her twin brother, henry told him. unlike natalie, he had gotten their mom’s hair, along with her little sister. he was wearing a plaid flannel with a sleeved dark blue shirt under with jeans that looked a bit big on him, along with low top red vans.
natalie scoffed, “
yeah,
he’s a beast.” she said while playing a game. henry looked at her screen and furrowed his brows.
“nat, aren’t you supposed to be looking for a job with me?” he questioned while looking at her screen then at her. natalie rolled her eyes.
“yes, but we have time for that.” she answered. henry rolled his eyes and looked back at his screen and started scrolling again.
charlotte sighed “you know, someday, when you guys are cleaning my swimming pool ‘cause you failed this algebra test, then flunked out of school, i hope you remember this moment, ‘cause i will.”
nat and jasper faked a laugh, “hilarious.” nat told charlotte with a grin.
“hey,” henry said, nat looked up from her screen. here’s a cool job. i could do—” he put his feet on the coffee table. “foot model.” nat scrunched her face up.
“that’s a thing?” henry looked at her, “i guess so.” nat shrugged and went to look for another game.
“hey guys, could we go over the list for my birthday party.” jasper asked the other thirteen-olds. nat stopped playing.
“yeah i guess.”
“sure.” nat and henry said at the same time.
“no.” char disagreed
“no.” the twins said after charlotte.
jasper started to whine, “but i invited fifty-two people and nobody’s texted me back yet. what does that mean?”
the twins looked and each and sighed. “that people have went to your parties before?” nat talked after, “yeah jas, no one really wants to go to your parties after what happened at your last party.”
“oh come on, it wasn’t that bad.” he tried to deny. “fifteen kids ended up in the hospital.” charlotte deadpanned.
“because of your raw turkey.” the blonde boy said.
“it was turkey sushi.”
“a boy almost
died.
” nat told him.
“almost.” jasp tried to deny again.
nat sighed and got off the game. “okay, first person who helps us find us a after school job gets uh—” nat and henry looked around “this bowl of pinecones.” henry finished. jasper gasped.
“why do you guys even need a job?” the curly-head girl questioned. natalie looked at her. “you know, to uh learn responsibility and—” henry nodded, “and to challenge ourselves.” natalie snapped her fingers and pointed at henry “yes, that too.”
“they want money.” jasper informed charlotte.
“we want money.” the twins said.
“money’s good.” charlotte told them.

sighed, “can we please talk about my birthday?” charlotte sighed, “am i gonna have to slap a boy?” nat snickered.
the twins’ mom, kris came from upstairs, “henry, can you tell me how in the wor—” she cut herself off when she saw charlotte and jasper. nat and henry looked up at her. “oh, i didn’t know jasper and charlotte were here.”
“we’re studying.” jasper informed kris, making charlotte look at him, “are we?”
“yes, yes we are. we’re in the middle of something mom.” nat said. “i’m not interupting.” nat raised a brow and sighed.
“okay, thanks.” the male twin told her. kris started talking again. “i just have a question about your underwear.” she told henry. nat laughed. “mom!”
“i’d like to hear the question.” the dark skinned girl said. “what’s the issue with henry’s underwear?” jasper asked curiously. “yeah, mom, what
is
the issue.” nat asked with a grin. henry jabbed her in the ribs earning a 'ow' from the female.
the twins’ bratty, as nat likes to describe her, little sister came bursting into the house. “mom! mom i am not okay!” nat rolled her eyes, “when are you ever okay?” she muttered. henry chuckled.
piper ignored them. “piper, we’re trying to study here.” henry said. “i’m talking to my mother.” natalie sighed. “i’m done.” she said quietly while shaking her head.
“what wrong baby?” their mom asked.
“jessica unfollowed me.” piper informed her. “here we go again.” nat said to no one in particular. “no one cares.” henry told the nine year old girl.
“henry,natalie. why would jessica unfollow you?” kris asked piper.
“beause she posted a picture of her with me and Allison,so I posted a comment that said,”omg, you look so gorgeous.”well, that’s nice.”
piper disagreed “no. ‘cause allison thought it meant she looked gorgeous,so she posted a comment that said,'thanks,ily.' and so then jessica got jealous and unfollowed me,and now i hate myself and i’m gonna die.”
nat furrowed her brows. “aren’t they only like nine years old?” jasper and charlotte snickered. piper glared at her. nat raised her hands in surrender.
“i’ll call jessica’s mom and talk to her.”
“no! that’s not okay!” they went to the other room.
nat was helping henry look for a job. “dang it. all these jobs say i’ve got to have skills.”
“so? you’ve got tons of skills.” nat snickered. “name one.” the brunette said while walking to the kitchen.
“uh, you’re great dancers.”
“no we’re not.”
“you could use a few lessons.”
nat threw her head back and covered her face with her hands and groaned. “oh my gosh.” she heard her brother say. “what?”
“i’m- im not great at anything. this is tragic.” nat scoffed at his dramatics, “dude, stop being so dramatic.”
“here, let me see.” charlotte offered. she took the laptop.
“i’m just a big pile of average.” nat raised her eyebrows and tilted her head, “eh, yeah you’re kinda are.” henry glared at her. she grinned. “okay here’s a job.” they looked at charlotte. “where?”
“at a store called junk-n-stuff. it says, 'needed,part-time helper for various duties.'” jasper snickered, nat looked at him with furrowed brows. “duties.” nat’s lips curved up a bit as she let a snicker slip out. she looked back at the screen, “and see, 'no special skills necessary.'”
“that’s us!” nat looked at him with an offended face that went unnoticed by henry. he grabbed her by the arm and dragged her to the door “we’ve got to get that job!” he stopped midway to the door. he grabbed the pinecones, and gave it to charlotte, “and you get the pinecones.”
“sweet.” he grabbed nat again, she took out of his grip, “dude, i could walk myself.” henry raised his hands up. “good luck nat,hen.” they thanked her and ran out— well henry did, nat walked.
