Chapter 1

Peter Pettigrew

โ€œMum, weโ€™ve found it โ€ณ, I called to our parents as Ivy and I admired the building called โ€˜Leslieโ€™s Wandshopโ€™.

โ€œMy wandโ€™s going to be so wickedโ€, Ivy taunted.

โ€œMineโ€™s going to be much betterโ€, I replied.

โ€œWell, go on in, you twoโ€, urged Ivyโ€™s mother, Mrs. Thomas.

We walked into the store and saw hundreds of wands stacked on the walls. โ€œWowโ€, Ivy whispered audibly โ€œThis is bloody amazing, Penelopeโ€

โ€œYou might have some competition for the best wand, Iโ€™m afraidโ€, I said with a smirk.

โ€œWell, hello, girlsโ€, said a young lady in purple robes from behind the counter โ€œGoing to Hogwarts, are you?โ€

โ€œYes maโ€™amโ€, I replied.

โ€œWell, we have to get you the perfect wand, now donโ€™t weโ€, she asked with a smile.

She started looking on the walls, trying to pick a wand. โ€œWell you, young lady, โ€œ, she said to Ivy โ€œlook like you would be a Hermione Granger. Try this one out.โ€, she said as she handed her a wand that was covered with what looked like vines.

Ivy waved the wand and a gold mist came from the end of it.

โ€œVinewood and dragon heartstring coreโ€, said the lady.

โ€œWickedโ€, said Ivy.

โ€œAnd youโ€, she said to me โ€œLook like a Remusโ€. She handed me a wand with a dark brown tip and the rest was a lighter brown. Mine too, produced a golden mist into the air.

โ€œThatโ€™ll be 14 galleonsโ€, the lady said to our parents.

They paid, and we walked out. โ€œCould I please have an owl, Mum?โ€, I asked Mum hopefully.

โ€œOoh, me too!โ€, Ivy yelled to her mother.

โ€œWell, you both can have a barn owl, how about that?โ€, said Mrs. Thomas.

โ€œOKAYโ€, we shouted together.

Our mothers bought our barn owls, and we were leaving.

Mum and Mrs. Thomas left us at my house, while they wentout get firewhiskey with our fathers. We were sitting on my bed, playing wizarding chess, when Ivy asked โ€œDo you want to play a card trickโ€

Most kids didnโ€™t even play Muggle games, but we still lo it. โ€œIโ€™ll get it out of Mum and dadโ€™s room.โ€, I said โ€œBut Iโ€™m doing one firstโ€

Where did I put those cards?, I thought to myself. Thatโ€™s when I remembered, it was in the middle drawer on her nightstrand.

I opened the drawer and started rummaging, when I found a letter tucked into the cornerof the drawer. Notyour business, Ivy. But I just couldnt help myself. I pulled out the letter, and read it.

My dearest Annabeth,

I love you with all of my heart. I know I am a very young father, but I would not wish to give you up for anything - except the Dark Lord . I know youre probably much too young to understand at the time, but Iโ€™m a Death Eater .Your mother will raise you to the best of her abilities. Unfortunately, I cannot be involved with you. My life is to the Dark Lord. I wish for you to become a Death eater, and follow in your dear fatherโ€™s footsteps. Your mother doesnt follow the Dark Lord, but I hope that you will come to your senses when youโ€™re older. You mustnโ€™t get mixed up with those mudbloods. They are filthy animals. They have not a pure bone in their body. But of course, you are much too young to understand. And Iโ€™m sure your mother will teach you otherwise, anyway. She has not agreed on anything else. Goodbye forever, Annabeth.

With Love,

Peter Pettigrew, your father

I almost ripped the letter up, but then remembered what I was doing. I tucked teh letter back into the corner of my mumโ€™s drawer, and went back to the room.

โ€œWhere is itโ€, Ivy asked when I got back

โ€œCouldnโ€™t find it.โ€, I responded, realizing why I went through Mumโ€™s dresser in the first place.

โ€œOh, well thatโ€™s too bad.โ€, said Ivy with a look of slight diissapointment. โ€œWell, anyway, what house do you think youโ€™ll be in at Hogwarts?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t knowโ€, I said โ€œI havenโ€™t given it that much thoughtโ€. Of course, that was a lie. I had spent every waking moment thinking about Hogwarts. I honestly dont think I belong in any house. Did that mean I was a Hufflepuff?

โ€œWell I want to be a Slytherinโ€, said Ivy โ€œI mean, I am a pureblood, and I look rather good in greenโ€.

โ€œWhat house do you think Iโ€™ll be inโ€, I asked.

โ€œWell, obviouslyโ€, she said cockily โ€œYouโ€™ll be a Slytherin like me. I canโ€™t go all year without seeing you.โ€

โ€œWell, that makes senseโ€, I said after Iโ€™d thought it over a bit.

โ€œWell of course it does.โ€, she said โ€œI canโ€™t wait to go tommorow. Being a witch will be so much fun.โ€

โ€œNot to mention, our wands are bloody awesomeโ€

Our parents arrived at around 10:00. As soon as Ivy left and my dad was asleep, I had a few questions for Mum.

โ€œMumโ€, I whispered as I slowly opened her door. โ€œCan I come inโ€

โ€œPenelopeโ€, she squinted โ€œGo in the sitting room, Iโ€™lll be there in a hurryโ€, she whispered.

I was on the sofa for about 5 minutes, when Mum came into the sitting room with a robe and slippers.

โ€œNow, what is itโ€, she asked as she sat next to me.

โ€œM-m-mumโ€, I asked in a shaky voice. โ€œWhoโ€™s Peter Pettigrew.โ€

โ€œWhy would you ask such a question, Penelopeโ€, she laughed.

โ€œBecause I found the letterโ€, I said quietly. โ€œI left something in there, so i decided to take a look. Thatโ€™s when I found the letter tucked into your drawer.โ€

โ€œWell, thenโ€, finally said my mother โ€œWell, Peter, he-he was my father.โ€

โ€œBut thatโ€™s impossibleโ€, I added confused โ€œHe said he was a Death Eater.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s because he was, childโ€, my mother said, a tear streaking down her face, โ€œBut He found no use for him, so he killed himโ€

โ€œYou told me that your fatherโ€™s name was James, Mum, this makes no sense.โ€

โ€œI know it doesnt Penelopeโ€ณ, she whispered โ€œListen, youโ€™ve got a long day ahead of you. Go get some restโ€

I went to bed, but stayed up all night thinking about what had happened. I was the granddaughter of a Death Eater. It was really hard processing that. But, I guess I canโ€™t control anything. I am only 11.

Maybe all of this was a dream. Yeah, thatโ€™s it. Iโ€™lll wake up tomorrow, go to Hogwarts, and find that my grandfatherโ€™s name was James.
