Lift-Off

Patrick

had lived in the silver bullet shaped trailer his whole life, even after his Ma had left town with that no good loser Zane. With a tail wind though he'd fixed it up real good and in a style in-keeping with his interests, though his Step-Dad might call them

his obsessions.

He'd spent the previous 3 years getting all the equipment just right to finally transcend its previous use, which had been a rock groups touring van, into a state of art electronic listening station.

His Step-Dad nearly choked on a beer nut laughing when he tried to explain his bold idea that first time and when he could speak again he told him he'd be better off flipping burgers than staying couped up day and night in that god forsaken radio shack, all lonesome up there on the top of the grey mountain. Patrick though, had long since tuned out from anything Billy-Joe has to say on this or any other subject, afterall he wasn't his real Dad and since his Ma had skipped town he wasn't entirely sure why he still visiting him. Then he remembered why that was, it was that he got all the spare electrical parts that he liked from the workshop behind the garage, as Billy-Joe owned the biggest electrical equipment wholesaler in the County, he needed him.

Patrick said his goodbyes and thanked Billy-Joe for the pizza and the parts and as he closed the front door he half heard " ...say hello to E.T..." followed by a snorty laugh. Patrick was used to that and the thing that made him madder than ever was that no-one really understood what he was actually doing up there, well no-one except Logan and Seth ofcourse, his best friends and partners in science. He checked his red digital watch, he was late, they had agreed a revendous at 4pm at the trailer...with no time to lose and with the bag of new computer parts slung over his shoulder he kick started his Honda MTX and disappeared up the mountain road in a cloud of dust and noise.

Isabella: This book is relatively fast paced, good character development & interesting plot. As far as shifter stories go, it’s a little off the ‘norm’. I’ve read a lot of shifter stories & this is the first where someone’s mating mark can be removed after a rejection? It’s details like that, that make this s...
