Prologue
Everyone knows that you can’t live without your mate when you find him or her. But that’s what frightens me the most... The “what-ifs.” What if he doesn’t want to be with me when he finds out who I am? What if he doesn’t love me and treat me like he should? And the list goes on and on with these questions.
When I was a little pup, my biggest dream was to meet my mate; I daydreamed about him and everything we would do together. Those dreams seem somewhat imaginary in some sort of weird way. No one is out there for me, and if he is, I’m going to reject him before anything else happens.
I don’t want a mate anymore; it’s not worth it. He’s just going to drop me and treat me like shit, exactly like everyone else, and I will fight to the end of time if I have to!
