Summary

He's running away, but what is he running towards? Of course it was illegal. Not that I generally tell people of my exploits, but this was a pretty unique situation. I had almost died. Not that I hadn’t almost died before, but this was different. I actually felt my heart stop this time. I’ve lost blood—liters of it—but I never saw the light. I never came that close to touching it. At that moment, if I could have left, I should have. I had already decided to let him go. I had already told myself that he wasn’t worth the pain he was causing me. This lifestyle wasn’t worth it. But I just laid there, the blood pouring out of me onto the timber floor, as he’d stared coldly back. Maybe “coldly” is too strong a word. No, his gaze wasn’t frosty, or chilly, or even sharp as a shard of ice. His eyes had been blank. *The cover picture is not mine. I do not own it or pretend to own it. I give all credit to whoever took the picture, painted it, drew it, etc.
