This Boy

Today was not the day to be running late to the only job that would hire my bumbling self. I totally decided that my makeup was more important than being early or even on time. I was just parking my car when I saw my manager, the one who I told I would be on time and awesome in the interview. The job was running an appraisal shop. My nen ability was the main reason they hired me.

0

"Fuck," I swore under my breath.

0

I smiled and tried the innocent look, "I'm sooo sorry!"

0

"Please don't make this a habit," he said in a stern tone.

0

Now I was totally screwed and on the first day. I would have to not mess up at all to get him to believe I was a complete failure as an employee. This was going to the worse first day of my work-life.

0

"First thing that needs to be done is making sure nothing is gone from the vault. Theives are very skilled in this part of town. They are going to test your ability to catch them in the act," he said.

0

"The items that are on display in the window are put in the vault for security reasons. So, please lock the door before you put them away. You must deal with all customers before locking the items in the vault. Your nen ability will be challenged her. Anyone with more skill will see and use any weakness they see in you."

0

I swear that I needed a friggin notebook to keep track of all this. With my nen ability being a specialist I could see all forms of nen. Took years and a lot of headaches to be able to concentrate my eyes to capture even nen I wasn't sure what it was. The only thieves that I was worried about were the Phantom Troupe.

0

They were gunning for someone like me. With my ability to detect nen in all forms and my ability to as a specialist was nothing to sneer at. It was the fact that I was a complete failure as a human being that they hadn't actually found me to ask me to join them. They all terrified me.

0

"The next most important thing is to make sure you have money. Meaning that you have enough in your drawer to make the change for large bills. Hunters come through with all types of things. So be careful of any counterfeit items."

0

"Any items that need further appraising seal and put in the vault immediately. It will keep the person from trying anything funny in the store. Other than that there is nothing too surprising happening in the store."

0

Now that his intro was finished. The problem was remembering all this when things got busy. I hoped that I wasn't going to be by myself. Especially with this being my first day on the job. I really hoped there were minimal customers. I really wanted this job to be boring.

0

"Now, I will be at the appraisal arena just outside the city. So if you have any issues please call me," he said. "So, I going to leave you to it."

0

I nodded and walked him out. Getting a few more detail about what I should do on my first day by myself. I really didn't want to mess this up. I watched as he drives away. I sighed, this is a good job and here I was, overthinking the crap out of it.

0

I went and checked out all the items that were out on display. There were nice just normal relics that were very expensive. There was also a dime-a-dozen items for the hunters to come in and grab for any assignment they were doing.

0

As I was admiring a very old necklace I felt a strong nen presence. Then I heard the door open. When I looked up I saw a tall red-haired man with an interesting style for his face makeup. What really threw me was the entitled/pervy smirk that was on his face. He reminded me of an evil clown.

0

'Great, I get this freak show right out the gate,' I thought.

0

"Hello, how can I help you, today?" I asked in my best saleswoman voice.

0

"I am here to pick up an item," he said.

0

"Of course, which item was it?" I asked walking towards him.

0

"That," he said pointing to a gothic style doll.

0

I followed his hand and then looked at the price tag: ⚜️300,000. I raised my eyebrow slightly. I activated my nen ability. I immediately felt resistance. Instead of reacting, I went to pick up the doll. I went to the counter to get the authentication paperwork and transfer documents. I couldn't show the tall pervy clown any fear or hesitation.

0

I didn't want him to know that I was new. Or what my nen ability was. As a hunter, I would be a manipulator and a specialist. My specialist ability was something rather scary. If you could imagine what a grim reaper and a dark wizard mixed together would create. One of my main attributes to the job was that I couldn't be trumped in the mental arena. Mind Control was not going to work on me. I was used to training with the Zoldyck family. Illumi actually got pissed because he wasn't able to slip into my head with any form of suggestion.

0

His father and grandfather tried and only managed slight suggestion. They put up more of a physical fight. That was their strategy to wear me down physically to get a crack in my mental armor. It almost worked. It didn't take me long to realize what they were doing.

0

"You seem rather strong to be working this menial job," the clown said, drawing my eyes to his face as he leaned on the counter.

0

"How so?" I asked softly as I continued filling out the paperwork on the computer.

0

"I am very good at seeing people's strength or potential," he said matter-of-factly.

0

I gave him a shy smile and continued on with the paperwork. I didn't have time to flirt right now. This transfer paperwork had like a billion different spots of information to fill out. Luckily this store's system auto-filled that for me just by scanning the tag.

0

I pushed away the hand that was meant to touch my chin without break my concentration on the computer screen in front of me. That seemed to make him hyper-aware of me. I had his undivided attention. Not something I had intended to get. I really sucked at flirting and this kind of general chit-chat thing.

0

"Mmmm," he hummed.

0

He almost sounded excited. That made me uncomfortable. I just focused on the paperwork, which, unfortunately, was close to being finished on my end. It was the only thing dividing me from fully giving him my attention. I would have to finesse my way out of...him.

0

"Alright, just initial and sign if the marked area. And I will get this lovely doll all packaged up for you," I said not looking at him.

0

He intentionally smoothed his large hand over mine, causing me to look at him, as he took the paperwork from me. He was smiling. My shield faltered ever so slightly. I tried to hide it, but he didn't let go of my hand. I felt something gooey slide over my wrist. It looked like gum when I glanced at it.

0

"Mmm, interesting," he said.

0

I swear he was having a conversation with himself. I was quickly getting flustered. He knew it.

0

'Shit,' I thought.

0

I had to take a quick breath. Activating the reaper-like nen in me. My grim reaper-like ability was not something I liked using unless I felt severely threatened. I quickly went to wrap the reaper around his heart. I didn't want to kill him. However, he had rattled me. I didn't like how easily he did either. I put pressure on his heart. Without missing a beat he released my hand and the gum disappeared from my wrist. I pulled the reaper back. I called this part of the ability Reaper Massage. It wasn't for damage, it was geared towards fear. I knew he wasn't scared. Not one bit. The smirk was now a full-on smile with a hungry look in his eyes to make him even more terrifying than he was two seconds ago. He was freaking happy about what just transpired. I was baffled. Why did the first customer of the day have to be some perverted freak?

0

He filled out the paperwork with a creepy smile and the aura I felt rolling off his tall frame was full of excitement. I really wanted him to be done with the paperwork. I saw his signature and immediately wanted to run: Hisoka Morow.

0

'Fuck a duck, the Magician. How did I not recognize him,' I cursed inwardly.

0

He was someone I needed to avoid. I was one of the few who knew who he was affiliated with. He was the 4th spider of the Phantom Troupe. He took out the previous #4. He had enjoyed the slaughter. That's why he scared me. It wasn't that I couldn't beat him. It was that he enjoyed fighting and killing. He had like a weird fighter boner when it came right down to it. The thrill of the fight is what he would get high on. That in hindsight was making me wonder what the hell he was doing flirting with me. I was the opposite of eccentric. I didn't even like wearing low cut shirts. I hated the unfortunate blessing of having double D's. My petite frame made me ideal in most guys' fantasies, but I went out of my way to hide that.

0

I took the paperwork from him and turned to start packing the gothic doll. I really didn't want to put my back to him. Not only was I wearing a skirt. It was one of my favorite short skirts. And I have to file the paperwork in a draw near the floor. Meaning I would either have to bend over or squat down. I decided it was safer to squat. He audibly swallowed when I did that. My shirt rode up a little as a bent slightly. Revealing part of the family crest tattooed on my back.

0

"Mindori Family," he said. "Now that is more of a surprise than I was expecting.

0

I closed my eyes and sighed. Of fucking course he knew about my family crest. This day could not get any worse unless lightning struck me at this precise moment.

0

"You know about us?" I asked feigning shock as I stood up.

0

I had already packaged the doll while asking this. So, I could use that to keep from turning around for about 30 more seconds.

0

"Oh, yes. Chrollo has been looking for someone from that family for a long while. I am sure he will be very happy to know he isn't dreaming," he said.

0

The negative side of my family blood is what made us targets. Much like the Kurta Clan, we had an emotional trigger. Just as powerful, but its manifestation was different. Ours was ruled by our individual personalities. We transform slightly. In my case, I grow in cat ears where my human ones would disappear, cat eyes, a viper like tail, sharp talons, and razor-like fangs. Unique and extremely dangerous. I felt myself shifting. I just barely held onto my inner peace.

0

He chuckled. Like it was freaking funny. He found my button. Now he leveled the playing field.

0

"Although, I would like to keep you my little secret," he said.

0

I knew the next words that came out of his mouth would be not to my liking.

0

"You're going to mine, kitten."

A/N- Ok, I know there is a lot here. However, I want a good story that doesn't go too fast or progress too slow. I hope you like the start!👩🏾📜
