*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
I roll over and hit the snooze. 5 more minutes, thats all I need.
Suddenly my door bursts open as my mom and sister start singing "Happy Birthday".... Loudly.
Usually I love my morning birthday pancakes. However, this year my actual birthday fell on a Sunday. So in a typical teenage 17th birthday celebration i obviously went out with my friends the night before, it was a mistake.
My head is about to explode by the end of their serenade.
I quickly blow out the candles and take a bite of the bright pancake with frosting and sprinkles everywhere. My mom, thankfully, leaves while Delilah stays behind. She quickly hands over the Advil from her pocket and I take it gratefully.
"I told you to stop after the 4th shot. Shoulda listened." She raises an eyebrow at me, but is thankfully quiet as my headache subsides.
My sisters big brown eyes looking at me expectantly. We were the opposite in almost every way. She was short (5'1") with huge boobs, luscious curves. She is gorgeous. She loved to go to movies, get her nails done, go to the mall and basically anything that was "chill". She was a very calm person and I loved her auora. Only 4 months apart in age, we were best friends.
I, on the other hand, tower over almost all my friends at 6'2". I basically look like a wierd doll, but enormous. My hair is so "blonde" its basically silver. In the sun it IS silver. I have slight curves and average boobs. My eyes are round and big, dark blue with magenta flecks. Everyone is convinced I wear contacts, but its just another weird atribute I have. I know I'm kind of attractive, i just wish I was a little more.... Normal...
I also have anger issues. Im working on it. My parents got me into a bunch of activities to help me control my anger around age 5 and for the most part it works. I got into a lot of mediation and self defense and fencing stuff. Basically anything to wear me out so im too exhausted to snap at someone, or "center" me.
Everyone knows I'm adopted in this small town of ours, so no one asks me about why i look so different from my family. I appreciate that.
I finally notice her still staring at me.
"Mags...? Magnolia! Did you already forget your promise to let me pamper you on your birthday? We have a spa appointment in two hours and its an hour away so CHOP CHOP!" She claps her hands together, glee in her eyes and runs out the door.
I groan and slowly make my way to the bathroom. The day has just begun and I already miss the warmth of my bed. I need coffee... This is only the beginning.
An hour later I'm showered. Thats about as far as I got before I started to drink an entire pot of coffee. As I'm about to brew another pot, my sister glides down the stairs in a baby doll yellow sun dress with white flower print. I, on the other hand opted for leggings and an oversized white T shirt. We both had our hair in pony tails because apparently around shot 6 last night I agreed to a full girl day. Vodka is not my friend anymore.
We head to Delilahs pride and joy. Since our birthdays are so close together we usually just combine our partys. On our 16th birthday, we got cars. I like older cars. Sustainable. Soild. Real. I like CD players and not having it yell at me everytime I unlock it. But Delilah doesnt know how to drive a stick and I dont really know where we are going. So we slide into her slick black Mercedes and start the drive to the spa.
The drive was fun, time with my sister always was though. The conversation was easy as we talked about last nights events. I guess I ended up making out with Denis from Chem class. Oops. Hes super cute though and ive had a little crush on him for a while anyways.
As we pull up to the spa, something inside me starts to stir. Its like de ja vu.
"Have we been here before?" I feel anxiety rising.
"Nope. They are new! I got a flyer in the mail last week with a coupon but I've been saving it until I could convince you to go with me." Delilah gives me a sly smile and a wink. This was planned. This is entrapment.
I take a deep breath and put on a fake smile. "Alright, Del. You got me here. Do your worst."
But what came next was more than I bargained for.
