Prologue
I held my little sister tightly as we ran from the monster chasing us. It’s skin was a dark grey upto it’s velvet red knife-like fingers. Two moose horned antlers protruded from it’s hairless head. It destroyed trees and was beginning to gain speed.
I suppose we should hit the pause button right here though…
You might be wondering how I got into this mess in the first place, well it’s an interesting story to say the least.
My name is Cole Sagitarius , I have ; well had a good home life and a... nice family. I’ve lived in a big city all my life, but of course like many others, my father used to live out in the country and much to my dismay we were about to take a little vacation.
“ Cole! Get down here now!” My father yelled angrily. He had told us about the vacation out of the blue. It was kinda weird though as we had hit a financial block recently.
“ I’ll be down in a second!” screamed back
Loud footsteps stomped up the stairs as I rushed putting everything in my suitcase. My father bursted through the door, his eyes coated with a thick anger, “ What did you say?”
“ S-s-sorry, Father. I w-was just finishing putting everything in my b-bag,” I explained quickly
With a deep huff and a side eye, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me down the stairs barely giving me time to grab my bag. My mother was fixing my little sister's make-up. It always made me angry when she did that, after all my sister was only six and unlike many little girls she hated the color pink that plastered her face.
“ There!,” our mother clapped her hands, “ Don’t you look beautiful!”
Rumi looked my way and made a pouty face, “ I look like a barbie doll,”
Before our mother could say anything, father shouted that everyone needed to get into the car. He pulled my arm roughly with mother and Rumi followed close behind.
We traveled for hours, soon the pavement turned to dirt and buildings turned to trees. Between them I could see a mammoth mansion with lavioused cars around front. We pulled up next to one of the cars and father turned towards us, “ No matter what you do, don’t say a word to anyone,”
Rumi and I looked at one another before nodding meekly. We all got out and began walking up towards the door, a tapping noise caught my attention as I looked up. There was a girl in a window. She began shaking her head and mouthed something. She seemed frantic as she mouthed whatever it was she was saying.
“COLE!!!,” my fathers angry tone rang through my ears
I whipped around to see father stomping towards me, “ Get over here!”
He grabbed my wrist again and began dragging me away, I took one last look at the window and the girl was gone. I was pulled towards an older woman standing with my family. She looked strangely excited as they approached. Father threw me in front of the woman. She nodded approvingly, “ Is this?”
Father nodded quickly, “ Yes,”
She smiled widely, “ Your name is Cole, correct?”
I nodded.
“ Alright, I know you are old enough to understand what is going on with your parent’s finances. Would YOU like to assist them?”
Before I could answer, Mother interjected, “ They are just children,”
I was confused until Mother handed me Rumi. She gave me a pleading look I had never seen her wear before. Rumi grasped the back of my shirt tightly.
“ He is nineteen,” the old woman snarled, “ It is tradition,”
“ Jax, let’s just go-” whenever finished. Father’s fist connecting with her cheek. She feel to the floor, tears flowed from her eyes, “Run,”
That was all I needed to hear as I clutched Rumi closely and began to run. We had gotten to the tree line when stomping came from behind him. A quick glance revealed a monstrous being running after them. The beast began to gain ground as it gurgled,

Before I could duck under a branch, it was clotheslined and hit the ground. My vision went blurry and ringing filled my ears. Rumi screeched as she was picked up by the strange monster. Black and while splotches filled my sight. Soon I was pulled into a cold darkness, only hearing the fading sound of Rumi’s screams...

Looking forward to the next update!
